The Maritime Gig Festival 2008 will take place on June 7^th and 8^th in downtown Gig Harbor, Washington. Also, there are plenty of music groups performing all day on both days. Musical artists will be performing on two stages, the pavilion and main stage. There will be many kid-friendly activities that will take place during this two-day festival. One of the major kid-friendly events will be the Children's Fair; this event will take place on Saturday June 7^th from 12pm-5:30pm. During this event, there will be numerous activities that kids, as well as the whole family can take part in and enjoy. Some of the events include an area where kids will be able to touch marine animals in a safe and secure area, face painting, a treasure hunt, and a place where kids can design their own t-shirt with various paints and dyes; there will also be many more kid-friendly activities. There will also be performers who will entertain children that will take place on the main stage during both days of the festival. These performers include jugglers, magicians, and scientists, among others. Many local bands and musicians will be performing on two stages, the main stage and pavilion, throughout both days of the festival. Some of the local bands to perform include "Evans and Charlie Brown", "Ranger and the Re-Arrangers", and "What's Cookin"; there will also be numerous other local bands and performers who are scheduled to perform. This festival also hosts a fun run, where families can take place in a 5k run or a kid dash for children. There is also a parade scheduled that will consist of local vendors, businesses, and people with beautiful floats and decorations.

There will be three categories that guests can participate in, and those are the Best Gig Photo, Best Who knows your picture may actually be a winner, and you could go home with a great prize. There will also be a Round Rock Contest. This contest will judge rocks that are submitted by participants, rocks are judged on their spherical measurement. All rocks that are entered must have been found in the state of Washington. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 5 rocks that are judged the most perfectly round. The winning rocks will be on display throughout the festival.
