Mark Foley's Disgrace is Another Nail in the Republican Coffin

Democrats Now Sure to Win His Seat This Year

Johnny Moon
The poor outlook for republicans in 2006 which has been highlighted by the racist Virginian incumbent senator George Allen (thought to be a shoe in till recent idiotic statements and revelations about his past.) has now taken a turn for the even worse with Congressman Mark Foley's sudden resignation.

Mark Foley, 52, of Florida was a part of the 1994 influx of republicans lead by Newt Gingrich and the "Contract with America" he was reelected five more times including with 79% of the votes in 2002 and 68% of the votes in 2004. He was considered close to a lock for this year until the latest republican scandal broke loose.

The Scandal

Foley has been accused of writing sexually explicit emails and internet messages (using AIM) to congressional pages under 18 years of age. These teenage boys were/are a part of the congressional page program which is a highly coveted program for teenagers from around the country to see how Washington really works.

An example of the messages Foley allegedly wrote under the name MaF54 to teenage boys is as follows:

MaF54: What are ya wearing?

Teen Boy: Tshirt and shorts

MaF54: Love to slip them off of ya.

In another message he asks if he's making the teen boy horny. According to ABC's Brian Ross who broke this story the content of these messages gets much more explicit, too explicit to be broadcast.

Warning

Perhaps the most concerning part of Brian Ross's report on this scandal is the quote that one young page said his "entire class was warned about Foley from people involved in the program." This quote makes it clear that other people with power knew of Foley's proclivities and did nothing about it. The corruption clearly runs deep in this republican ran congress.

Foley was the Chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children

Foley was a champion for some very strong anti internet sexual predator laws which he himself allegedly has broken. Foley's resignation from the house does not insulate him from the law. If these allegations are proven Foley could be sent to federal prison.

Homosexual Rumors of 2003

This scandal sheds a new light on the 2003 rumors that Foley is a homosexual. Foley held a press conference to denounce the "revolting" rumors and stated that his sexual orientation was unimportant.

The 2006 Election Cycle: The Big Picture for Republicans

The Republican Party is in disarray and this latest scandal makes that even clearer. This is a party of corruption and lies from the president down to the house. The American people are tired of these hypocritical people who hide behind the flag and the bible while they destroy everything that should be great about our country.

Donate to the Democratic Party

It's clearly time to make a change. It is time to wrestle as much power as possible from George W Bush's hands. It is time to tie him up with a democratic congress and senate.

cute how you get all 9 of your accounts to give you a thumbs up for your insipid comment!

  • Johnny Moon10/7/2006

and your stupid comments regarding the ratings ignore reality in the usual right winger way. it's obvious that there are either a lot of right wingers on this site that go around en masse to vote down liberal articles and comments and/or someone has made a lot of fake accounts for this purpose. please. yeah it's really believable that all of a sudden out of no where there are 10 votes up or down for someones comment. yes again, the party of "morals" ... it's just head shaking. if you would just own up to being the party of greed i could respect that a bit.

  • Johnny Moon10/7/2006

again this has nothing to do with him being gay, or with cybersex or any other nonsense like that. it has to do with preying on MINORS. that's anyone under the age of 18 in our country. you see the difference between clinton's sex scandal and this one? this one is actually BREAKING THE LAW. federal laws that could and should lead to years in prison. stop trying to compare these two. ok, buddy. you are a FOOL.

  • Johnny Moon10/7/2006

kid, what about your statement that the pages were over 18? that's just sure nonsense. being wrong on the facts is one thing. correcting someone elses correct facts with incorrect ones is just another level of assinine behavior. you are clearly a sheep just looking for any excuse to excuse the republicans. Haskert covered up this scandal because the house seat is more important than the safety of UNDERAGE pages.

  • Johnny Moon10/7/2006

i couldnt care less that he's homosexual, idiot. the whole story is that it was with an UNDERAGE PAGE. stop trying to equate an underage page of age 16 with an intern of age 23. not the same thing. not even close. the fact that he's a homosexual is just sweet justice because he's in a party that has been helped by pandering to gay bashers.

check where i got that last comment from -> http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1543199,00.html?cnn=yes

look crazy right wingers - you need to stop trying to spin this foley scandal as being anything other than what it is. haskert needs to resign now, you guys need to stop running on "morals" issues - it's BS, and now it's going to bite you in the butt. that's why this story has such legs, it's the hipocracy of it. it's the party of "morals" covering up a homosexual man sending sexual messages to minors. and yes, buddy, they were minors. get your facts straight before you try to correct someone elses.

  • Johnny Moon10/7/2006

Among the registered voters who were polled, 54% said they would be more likely to vote for the Democratic candidate for Congress, compared with 39% who favored the Republican.

  • Johnny Moon10/7/2006

And dumbass rightwingers - it doesn't make your stupid arguments make any more sense or your falsehoods anymore true to vote up your stupid comments and to vote down the intelligent comments left by liberals. seriously what the hell? just amazing.

  • Johnny Moon10/7/2006

I mean seriously where do you get your "facts" from? "Edmund, who served as a page in 2001 and 2002 when he was a high school junior, the attorney said." HIGH SCHOOL JUNIOR.
