In a highly anticipated announcement, Mark Ruffalo is expected to be announced today as Marvel's new Hulk for 'The Avengers' movie due for release on May 4, 2012.

Since the revelation, weeks ago, that Edward Norton, would not be returning to the Hulk role he created in 2008 in a Marvel flick simply called,' The Hulk' focus has shifted instead to who would play the role. That question is expected to be answered today.

Reading between the lines of Marvel dropped Edward Norton from the super-hero blockbuster movie, not for cost reasons, but creative and collaborative reasons.

Negotiations are anticipated to be finalized in time for Mark Ruffalo to join the rest of The Avengers cast on stage in San Diego at Comic-Con, for the official announcement of the full entourage for The Avengers. Earlier this week, Joss Whedon, of Buffy, Angel and Firefly fame, confirmed that he would be directing The Avengers.

Other cast members of the Avengers anticipated to appear at Comic-Con today are: Robert Downey Junior (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Samuel L Jackson (Nick Fury) and Scarlett Johansen (Black Widow).

Mark Ruffalo, is a 42 years old actor, director and screenwriter. His last big screen role was that of US Marshal Chuck Aule in Shutter Island, starring opposite Leonardo DiCaprio. He is also know for a string of romantic comedies and is currently starring in The Kids are Alright with Annette Benning and Julianne Moore.

Physicaly Mark Ruffalo is expected to bulk up for the role of the Hulk in The Avengers. With production only starting early next year, time is on Ruffallo's side on that one.

With the Hulk casting mystery for The Avengers now more or less solved, that leaves comic book fans only one major unknown to focus on: Who will be cast as Wonder Woman, in the much rumored big screen adaption of the comic, that Joss Whedon has also been tied to as director.
