Marketing 101 Sex Sells Everything

Sex and Key Wording Will Sell

Bubba
I had an old Marketing 101 instructor told me Sex sells everything. Since this was a number of years ago (more than some of you are old) I thought an experiment in Sex might be in order today. Mr. Miller was quite explicit in his instructions. "You don't have to use any intimate details just use the word Sex or an innuendo that causes folks to think about Sex." I know if I title this "For men Only" it wouldn't bring thoughts of Sex to many folks. If perhaps I would tittle this "An Adult Sex Expose" many folks would think of some form of Sex.

We are taught about Sex from a very early age. Yes Sex is taught in the schools in a subliminal way too. (We do have restrooms for men or women) The schools with uniforms are also guilty of Sex discrimination. The rules won't allow some folks to wear skirts but others can.

I grew into adulthood during a time when Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll were the theme of the day. Today Sex is marketed in a more subtle way. Mc Donald's, Burger King, Wendy's even Taco Bell show young attractive folks all eating their product while flirting and carrying on in a pre Sex rituals. Our TV advertising is flooded with feminine hygiene products giving many young men thoughts of Sex. The Erectile Dysfunction commercials also give the more mature audience a ray of hope for more Sex. Late Late night infomercials are marketing Sex toys or as we mature folks know them "Marital Aides." "You wanna meet my blond friend call 1-800-$$$$$$$ and fer $5.95 a minute you can date her." Does this mean Sex sells Sex?

I've wondered why so many folks have a TV in their bedroom. Do they truly want to watch the news of the day before sleeping? Is all the death and devastation what you want before trying to rest? Is it more likely the implied Sex is stimulating to the mood for intimacy? There we go with the subliminal Sex messages again. This thought gives new meaning to super size it, think outside the bun, or have it your way.

Now this exercise in Sex marketing has finished. The key word Sex has reached the optimum level. I'm hoping the Sex in this will bring me many views and even more comments. The question is will Sex take this article to Showcase level or beyond?
