When I drove up to the location I immediately noticed the outdoor patio area lined with beautiful lights and freshly planted floor boxes around the perimeter. There were people outside dinning to the sounds of some really lovely music. There were two musicians playing. One on the keyboard and the other playing a guitar. I was instantly impressed and thought to myself, "I can't wait to see the inside"!
Once I went inside, the first thing I noticed was the very contemporary fixtures and artwork that was surround by flat-screen televisions on every wall. The booths were large and comfortable and slightly elevated from the floor. While the separate dining tables were made of beautiful mahogany wood with very art deco style lighting overhead. I also noticed some beautiful hand-blown glass pendents hanging from the middle of the ceiling. It was very lovely!
I decided to take a look at the menu and it was so hard to decide what to order as everything on the menu looked so appetizing. I almost settled on ordering the Shrimp and Grits until I thought about my rule. What is my rule? Well, when I visit places that serve what I call, "fine bar food", I typically like to get an overall idea of what their cuisine is like, so I try an appetizer to test the waters so to speak. I ordered from what they call their Start, Share, Snack menu. I chose the asparagus fries and the Marlow's Classic tasting which is a combination of their Hummus, Firecracker Shrimp and Shrimp and Crab Nacho. I love asparagus, so I thought the fried portion should make it even more interesting. I was not disappointed. The asparagus fries were crunchy, fresh, hot and delicious!
I then turned my attention to the Marlow's Classic tasting platter and tried the Hummus and it was so smooth and creamy and had a wonderfully light taste to it. Next up it was time to try the firecracker shrimp. The shrimp was tender with a bold taste, but it wasn't until I tried the sauce that comes with it that I realized that's the FIRECRACKER portion of it. Nice and Spicy! I saved the Shrimp and Crab Nacho for last and, "Oh MY"! The Shrimp was wonderful, but the crab sealed the deal for me! So fresh with the melted cheese and peppers. So GOOD! The Marlow's Classic Tasting is the perfect way to get acquainted with the quality of food at Marlow's Tavern.
Marlow's Tavern has several locations throughout Georgia, but the Duluth location is one of my favorites. Marlow's in Duluth is located at 1950 Satellite Boulevard, Suite 300, Duluth, Georgia 30097. My next favorite location would be the Mid-town tavern that host wonderful specials on Wednesday for "Girl's Night Out". Visit them on line today at www.marlowstavern.com for locations and menu items and prices.
The price point is $4 to $8.00 for lunch and dinner begins at $10. Bottom-line. Excellent food, great location and family friendly.
