Maroon 5 frontman, Adam Levine, launched his new fashion line at the Project Trade Show in Las Vegas, NV. Levine, who is known for his sleek, sophisticated look in his music videos has done a complete turn around for his own fashion line.

The new line called, 222, will showcase simple everyday rocker fashions. Levine described the fashion as, "very simple and pure and durable" to Women's Wear Daily. The Maroon 5 singer has partnered with his father, who has worked with specialty boutiques for over 30 years, to create the line which will take the rock star from his sleek wardrobe back to his rocker roots with jeans, t-shirts and leather jackets.

Over 150 styles by the musician were shown at the Project Trade Show in Las Vegas including skinny jeans, silk dresses, wraps, knit tops and more. Each piece is simple yet chic, modern, funky and sleek without any bedazzling. One of the higher priced items in the fashion line is a classic yet modern biker jacket for $1,250.

It is surprising that the Maroon 5 singer has taken such a minimalistic approach to the 222 clothing line. The rocker has been known to wear luxury labels like Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, and Donna Karan. He even dubbed himself as a "label whore". Yet, he is giving up his slick duds for his 222 clothing line telling WWD, "Before all this nonsense, I was touring in a van with jeans and a ripped T-shirt and a leather jacket if I could afford it - and that's what got me through and to where I am today."

Levine is not the first musician to create a clothing line. Madonna's fashion line co-created with her daughter, Material Girl, debuted earlier this month to mixed reviews. Just a few of the responses to her new line from critics were, "Passe", "Underwhelming", and "a bit one-note". So far, Levine's line has not received the same type of criticism that Madonna's line experienced.

The Maroon 5 singer is following in the ever growing line of musicians to put out fashion lines. Levine's line has debuted but it is unclear when his line will hit retail shelves across the nation. Perhaps, it will be before Chrissie Hynde, front woman for the Pretenders, launches her vegan fashion line in the fall. Until then, fans of Maroon 5 will just have to wait patiently to wear the rocker's new label, 222.
