Marriage Proposal Ideas: From Ring Scavenge Hunts to Photo Shoots

Most women have thought about their wedding day long before they ever found that special someone. A marriage proposal is the beginning of the rest of your life with your sweetheart, and so you will probably find yourself wanting to mark this special occasion in a special way. You may, however, find yourself fresh out of unique marriage proposal ideas. If you can't figure out how you want to propose, you just know that you want to do it in a special way, then consider some of the marriage proposal ideas below.

Marriage Proposal Idea #1: A night of at home romance, topped off by a ring.
If you and your significant other really enjoy spending nights at home, just the two of you, watching movies and simply enjoying each others' company, consider a marriage proposal idea that plays on this special time. Why not cook a special dinner, take a romantic bubble bath, watch your favorite movies (especially ones featuring marriage proposals and weddings), and then sometime during your special night propose?

Taking something that the two of you love to do during a night at home and making it super special is a great marriage proposal idea because it takes something that is a special part of your relationship and uses it as a beginning to the rest of your relationship as a married couple.

Marriage Proposal Idea #2: Surrounded by family, food, and fun, ask her if she would like to make the two families one.
Meeting someone's family is usually a sign that things are getting serious in a budding relationship. When you find yourself ready to propose, why not share the moment with those who have been there for the two of you? If you and your significant other are close with not only your own families, but also each others' families, then a great marriage proposal idea would be to incorporate your two families.

Consider inviting both of your families out to dinner. Tell her beforehand that the dinner is simply a chance for your two families to meet, or just to spend time together. Eat dinner, talk, and have fun. Then, at some point during the dinner propose to her, letting her know how much you love her and her family, and how you would love to make the two families one big family. If your significant other is especially close to her family, then surrounding her by those that she loves is a great marriage proposal idea.

Marriage Proposal Idea #3: Lead her on a wild goose chase with a ring at the end.
Leave your significant other with a list of errands, but make the list a trail of gifts to make this marriage proposal idea especially sweet. You can make a list of errands that will have her running all over town picking up small gifts that will prepare her for romantic dinner that you will end with a marriage proposal (dress, shoes, jewelry, etc.).

At the end of the list of errands tell her to come back to her apartment and you will meet her there. Leave a note at her apartment explaining the errands, and to get dressed because you are going to take her out to dinner. This marriage proposal idea will leave her feeling like a character in a fairy tale. You can make the list as long or as short as you like, and the gifts as expensive or as inexpensive as you like. If you love to play jokes on your girlfriend, then this marriage proposal idea is the most romantic prank you will ever play on her.

Marriage Proposal Idea #4: Plan a day of star treatment for her, that will end with an engagement photo shoot.
You will have to get engagement photos taken at some point to send out with your announcements. Why not get them taken right after you propose to ensure that all the joy of that moment is captured? However, no woman is going to want to have her photo taken without getting to prep first, so to make this marriage proposal idea a huge success, build the preparation into your proposal plan.

Plan a day of pampering for the two of you complete with hair, makeup (for her), manicures, pedicures, and shopping for an outfit. Once you get to the photo shoot, let the photographer take a couple pictures of the two of you before you pop the big question. Then, right after you propose, and she has recovered from the tears, continue your photo shoot so you can get that perfect engagement picture. This marriage proposal idea will definitely leave her feeling like a super model, and you will definitely have an engagement picture that captures the true joy the two of you felt immediately after becoming engaged.

Whatever marriage proposal idea you decide to go with, make sure that you put some thought into it. You only get to propose once, so you will want to make it a memorable occasion.
