Marriage Proposals in a Small Town

Stephanie Bohrman
Some small towns are very close to large cities, so those people usually make marriage proposals a lot like people in the large cities make marriage proposals. However, what if someone from a large city wants to make a marriage proposal like someone in a small town would make a marriage proposal? How are marriage proposals made in small towns?

In Front of the Soft Glow of a Winter Fire

In the winter, sit on the floor in front of a fireplace (burning real wood) on a furry rug (be careful not to offend animal rights activists) with a glass of wine (Most country people do not make their own wine. It comes from the liquor store down the road.). The homeowner cut, split and hauled the wood to the house and then stacked it. Then the person in the house that knows how to light a fire, lights the sucker. Voila, there is a small town fire in the small town fireplace or stove. If the fireplace or stove is new, there should not be much chance of a chimney fire. Now sit back, relax, and have a couple of glasses of wine. Then pull out the engagement ring. Oh no, even small town marriage proposals will not work without an engagement ring - a real diamond engagement ring. A small town person has to go to a big city to get an engagement ring - no matter what. The cigar ring will not do even in a small town. These girls are strong. Duck if there is no engagement ring. That is a big, big mistake!

On the Sexy Tractor

"She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" is a song by Kenny Chesney. Therefore, the tractor must be a good place to propose in a small town. First, learn how to drive that tractor, so if someone hits a gear, the tractor does not just take off on its own. Tractors these days are big pieces of machinery and usually have a radio inside so farmers can listen to that song - "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy". They have lots of other important stuff inside too, so look do not touch. These things do not drive like cars either. So learn to get up at sunrise and drive that tractor till sunset for days at a time - but tractors have lights too so drive till the small town field is too wet to drive through. Then make that small town marriage proposal in that big tractor. If it rains for two months, the farmer gets a break from driving the tractor, but forgets about buying an engagement ring, because he will not be able to afford it.

In an 18-Wheeler

Tractors work in the fields. Then 18-wheelers haul a harvest to where farmers sell grain. Haulers love an 18-wheeler with a sleeper in the back, if they have been making long hauls without a sleeper. Then when they make long hauls on a regular basis, they get somewhat particular about their sleeper. The sleeper is so small that everything has to go in a particular place or it will not fit. These sleepers only sleep one person usually. Now where is a better place to make a marriage proposal in a small town than in an 18-wheeler? Those big trucks usually completely block the small town from one end to the other when they come through and stop. 18-wheeler small town marriage proposals are fast, because the people usually ask the truckers to move their large trucks out of the way or the truckers will get in trouble. Otherwise, the trucker has to make his marriage proposal on the outskirts of the small town. Always remember, the wedding ring is a necessity. Making a marriage proposal in an 18-wheeler over a long haul road trip is an interesting idea. Unless the loved one is an experienced 18-wheeler driver or rider and loves it, this comes highly not recommended. This is more like roughing it in the wilderness - few toilet stops, rarely a shower stop, etc., etc. She would probably just throw the ring back.

Under the Moon and Stars

On a clear night under the moon and stars, laying on a blanket it is beautiful in a small town. Sometimes weathermen forecast shooting stars, but there might be one or two anyway. Away from the city lights, the sky is full of stars. This seems the easiest and most romantic way to make a marriage proposal in a small town. Down south, it is probably better to wrap that blanket around you to keep the mosquitoes off rather than lie on it. Snakes hang out around water and chiggers hide in the grass. Fireflies are often as beautiful as the stars though. Again, do not forget the ring when making the marriage proposal.

However done the marriage proposal, with a little help, will go smoothly. Just remember no one expects someone to know everything about all things, so do not be afraid to ask for help. The perfect marriage proposal might be just around the corner. If a small town marriage proposal sounds exciting, ask around a small town to find out about the dos and don'ts of a certain idea.

Fireplace fires are always hard to start when someone is trying to get one started in a hurry.
There is a reason why farmers, hunters, and truckers have torn the sleeves off of their t-shirts. You guess! It is not a fashion look either.
