Marriage, is it Really an Issue for the President

Marriage, every little girls dream. A bond between a man and a woman, that no man should take lightly. A nervously anticipated meeting by a young man, asking a father for his daughters hand in marriage. Times a mother and daughter share, plan, and cherish for all the days of their lives. Families and friends gather to celebrate the union of a woman and a man in love, two people who know they should spend the rest of the days they each have on this earth together. These were the things most of us grew up and pictured when we thought of a wedding. Dresses were bought, tuxedos rented, caterers hired, invitations sent out, honeymoons planned, cars decorated, and uncles got drunk and made a fool of themselves. Ah, yes, the wedding, the tradition, the preacher from the family church, the cake. That was how it was in the good old days.
That was before the emergence of a large group of society who had mostly been hid from us all. They were always there, waiting for a time when society would say it is okay to be yourself. This is a perfect example of how we as a society can mess something up. We take something as beautiful as a wedding, love between two consenting adults, and we make it an issue as to who should be the President of The United States of America. We take things that are not any of our business and make issues out of them. Is it really anybodies business what any two consenting adults feel about each other, or if they want to spend the rest of their lives trying to make each other happy. Has the religious right forgot, "Judge not yet ye be judged."
I would like one of those protesting against marriage between two women or two men, to explain how that affects their life adversely. It may not fit with their morals, their standards, even their ideal of what marriage is, but what harm does it really do? Like it or not, these are people and they have feelings, and they deserve to be happy if they can find that person who makes them feel special, regardless of gender. Politicians should concentrate on the issues they can help the people with, like the economy, jobs, immigration, energy policy, things they can control or contribute too. It has been my experience, and my observation, affairs of the heart are not to be controlled by what someone else thinks.
