Marriage or Temporary Union Tag?

Wiley Vaughn
In this country, there is a blatant and ongoing attack on the sanctity of marriage. It is being committed by celebrities who indulge in multiple marriages. Why do the rich and famous even bother with weddings? When the average lifespan of a celebrity marriage can be counted on one hand, even if using dog years, then something has to be done. We need the the temporary union tag or TUT.

The TUT would be a status symbol on a level with prenuptial agreements. The TUT says, "Yeah, we're in love now, but we're keeping our options open if something a little sweeter comes along!" If you can't be moral, at least be legal.

Only major celebs, those most likely for multiple marriages, would be issued a TUT. They plop down the license fee and say the vow, something like: "I, fill in the blank, take this whatever, to be my legally recognized mattress fodder until death do us part or this 30 day permit expires, whichever comes first!" Elizabeth Taylor would be eligible for TUT # 1. Woody Allen comes somewhat farther down the list.

Do you really think Hugh Hefner is ever going to permanently settle down until he becomes compost? Should the fling of the month really become a "wife"? Why not end the charade and call his latest lover his state approved humpbuddy with a TUT? After all, no one at the Playboy Mansion is worried about Hef's virgin reputation or even his reputation with virgins.

Did Shania Twain find true love or is she making the most of her earning power? Only time will tell. But can anyone say with a straight face that visions of chocolate money didn't two step through her head even once? With Easter coming up, the chocolate bunny market alone could keep her in boots and spurs until the cows come home. I'm country, but I'm not crazy! After all, it is just as easy to love a rich man as a poor man, but the dividends come with the wealthy.

Hilarious, Wiley! I had a celebrity marriage for 15 years. My ex is now married to a 24 year old!

Glad I'm back to read your humor once again!
