Marry Me - The Filming of a Movie in Asheville, North Carolina
Lifetime Channel Movie Filmed on Location at Biltmore Estate
The Lifetime Channel recently chose Biltmore House as their film setting for the final scenes in the made for television movie, "Marry Me." Starring Lucy Liu as Rae Ann Carter, a single aspiring-artist-turned-social-worker who always wanted a fairy-tale romance - to fall madly in love and live happily ever after. But when her two-year relationship falls apart, Rae unexpectedly falls for a new man, Luke (Steven Pasquale), who asks her to marry him after a few short dates. Just as everything seems to fall into place for Rae, her ex-boyfriend Adam (Bobby Cannavale) suddenly re-emerges into her life with a proposal of his own. Things get even further complicated when a third man (Enrique Murciano), smitten by Rae, enters the picture and asks for her hand in marriage, as well. With three men after her heart, who will be Rae's Prince Charming?
Rae Ann is the adopted daughter of Vivienne played by Annie Potts best known for her role as Mary Jo Shively in Designing Women. All Vivienne wants is the best for her daughter. In her opinion, that means a successful husband, but not necessarily a fairy-tale romance. While Rae seeks a relationship deeper than that of her parents, Vivienne lovingly nudges Rae to get married before it's too late.
A visual artist myself, I was interested in their reasons for choosing Biltmore. A camera crew member's stated, "One of the main characters in "Marry Me" is a millionaire who lives in a castle in France, so our location team thought what better place to film than Biltmore House." The celebrated architect Richard Morris Hunt modeled the house on three chateaux built in 16th-century France. I asked if he had ever visited Biltmore prior to filming here. He said, "No this is my first time, but I can totally understand why it attracts so many guests, it's unbelievably magnificent! It must be so cool to work here!" "Marry Me" joins a prestigious list of 13 other movies filmed at Biltmore.

Post a CommentLOL Donna, they try to keep the employees out of view of the cameras. I tried to shmooze my way into the film crews tents but no luck. But I did get the chance to chat with them while they were on break. Very exciting! Thank you all for your comments!

Gee, and I thought the Hippies were the big attraction!
