Martha White Blueberry Cheesecake Muffin Mix

A Product Review

My husband and I have a continuing tradition of trying out new rolls, muffins, and flavored coffee on Saturday mornings. We had just about run out of ideas, when my husband discovered Martha White muffin mixes at Wal-Mart. For less than a dollar for 6 rolls this makes for a pretty cheap breakfast!

My husband chose Martha White Blueberry Cheesecake Muffin Mix because I love blueberry muffins and cheesecake so it seemed like a sure winner. The mix comes in a blue pouch with the red, white, and blue Martha White banner across the top. There's a nice little "etching" of several breads towards the bottom, with a muffin in the center. All in all it gives of a nice sense of Old Time Americana.

Below the banner is a tempting picture of the finished muffins--one cut and one whole. There is also a smaller banner reading, "Just Add Milk!" The front of the package also lets us know that Martha White Blueberry Cheesecake Muffin Mix is a "Good Source of Calcium & 5 Vitamins & Iron." So I get the feeling eating these is at least better than grabbing a doughnut!

Martha White Blueberry Cheesecake Muffin Mix is easy to prepare. Just mix with a half-cup of milk and pour into a greased muffin pan. Bake at 422 degrees for 17 minutes and you're ready to eat.

Martha White Blueberry Cheesecake Muffin Mix made very good muffins. Warm from the oven, they were as good as any blueberry muffing I've tried, nice and moist, with a good bit of blueberry flavor throughout. However, the little cheesecake chunks are hard to distinguish. What is strange is that the leftover muffin I had the next day tasted even better as the cheesecake flavor really popped then. So maybe this is one muffin you are better off allowing to cool.

Muffins made with Martha White Blueberry Cheesecake Muffin Mix are fairly good for you as well. For your 150 calories per muffin, you do get 13 percent of your daily-recommended allowance of fat and get 11 grams of sugar. But you also get 2 grams of protein, 2 percent of your daily-recommended amount of vitamin A, 10 percent of your daily-recommended amount of calcium, 10 percent of your daily-recommended amount of iron, 10 percent of your daily-recommended amount of thiamin, 10 percent of your daily-recommended amount of riboflavin, 10 percent of your daily-recommended amount of niacin, 10 percent of your daily-recommended amount of vitamin B6, 8 percent of your daily-recommended amount of folic acid, and 12 percent of your daily-recommended amount of B12. Still not a health food, but not bad for a Saturday treat.

While they aren't for everyday, I recommend Martha White Blueberry Cheesecake Muffin Mix as a treat or a quick breakfast. And these are great as leftovers!

Enjoy!
