Martin Luther King Day Events in Los Angeles and Its Vicinity

If you are a resident of Los Angeles or plan to be in this area over the Martin Luther King week-end which is between January 15 and January 17, 2011 there are several ways to be a part of this very important day. Here is a guide of things to do:

1. City of Long Beach Dr. Martin Luther King Peace and Unity Parade and Celebration.

This event will be on January 15, 2011. The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. in Martin Luther King, Jr Avenue from
7th Street North to Martin Luther King, Jr. Park. At the park, there will be entertainment, food
booths, crafts, merchandise vendors, games and rides for kids of all ages. The event is from 12:30 p.m until
5:00 p.m.

2. The City of Los Angeles Martin Luther King, Jr Parade.

The parade is on January 17, 2011. It will start at 11:00 a.m. in Martin Luther King Boulevard and Western
Avenue. The parade will head toward Crenshaw Boulevard. From Crenshaw Boulevard, the parade will
continue on to Vernon Avenue and end at Leimert Park. Marching bands and drill teams from local high schools will
be entertaining the audience. City officials as well as African American celebrities will be in attendance. For more

3. Martin Luther King, Jr Family Reunion.

This all day event on January 15, 2011 features two stages of entertainment, a car and motorcycle showcase, kids
zone, merchandise booths, and a BBQ cook off contest. Basketball, football, and tennis camps are also available.

6:00 p.m.

4. Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade.

This parade is also on January 15, 2011 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and features marching bands, floats,

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was and will continue to be a very important civil rights leader in the United States. Let us
