Martin Luther King Jr. And How He Spoke
A Look at the Speaking Style of the Race-equality Legend Martin Luther King Jr
To grab the audience's attention he tells how he will be leading the greatest demonstration for freedom in history. In the Introduction Of his speech Martin Luther King talks about The Emancipation Proclamation, which was a proclamation ending captivity of Negro slaves. He does not really give 5 points in which he breaks the speech into, He introduces his own topics as the speech go on. The introduction talking about the Emancipation Proclamation was very heartfelt and strong.
His main points were made very clear although he did not layout his speech in his introduction he still did the best out of any other speaker I have ever seen. He talked about the Emancipation Proclamation to begin with and then talks about how even after all the years that have passed Negroes are still not free. He then talks about how America is not living up to the constitution, how it states that all men are given the chance to have freedom and have rights to life. He brings in the topic of how this is just the beginning of the revolts that are going to take place until equality is reached. Justice is then spoken by him, He talks of how Negro's will no be satisfied until they receive justice. He then goes into his famous I Have a Dream Speech in which he talks of tall of the things he envisions as his perfect world and life. He speaks of how one day all men will be equal and be able to work with each other. He concludes with Let freedom ring, and how one day people of every religion will be able to come together.
The conclusion of his speech is very dramatic and grabs your attention very strongly, he uses the topic let freedom ring and applies to all different states and puts his one very important hope and goal out to the public. He speaks of how he hopes every religion of everyone will one day come together equally. For the conclusion Mr. King really just did his own thing he gave his speech the way he wanted to give it, he didn't follow really any of the outline of how we give speeches in class but he greatly succeeded in having his voice heard and speech amazing.
Martin Luther King's Vocal delivery was very impressive epitomized the perfect delivery, his voice was deep and spoke with leadership, and a certain firmness that only a true leader can speak with. His volume was perfect he directed his voice outwards very well and everyone in the audience could hear what he was saying. Everything he said was perfectly spaced and with the topic he was speaking of he directed his variety, his rate, and his clarity perfectly, and this is why to this day this speech is remembered.
With Martin Luther King's Physical delivery was also very impressive he looked around and gave eye contact to everybody in the audience. He looked very politically professional and looked like a leader. His gestures were strong and made his speech that much better.
Martin Luther King's speech went down in history as one of the greatest speeches ever, the one thing I found most interesting is his appearance and his delivery. Its one thing I respect very greatly of him on how he touched so many people and fought for the rights of all of the Negro community. The fact that to this day people still talk about his speech how big it really was is really interesting to me. He was a leader and how I envision a leader how he drove the audience into the sense of fight for the black community is something I will always respect.
The only suggestions I could think to give is to give a layout of the speech in the introduction. Even though he did not use this at all he still delivered the speech in a way that was very effective and strong. There really are no imperfections in this speech, people may be able to point few out but the speech was what it was and affective to all and touched everyone.
