Maruchen is a commonly found brand of ramen noodles. Ramen noodles are not only easy to make and delicious to eat, but they are very cheap too! Often found on sale at 10 for $1.00, their regular price is still inexpensive, ranging from 18 cents to 35 cents each depending on the store. Maruchen ramen noodles are also available in packs of 6. Here is where the price comparison needs to take place.
The Math:
The current Walmart price of a 6-pack is $1.94
Current regular price each is $0.18
$0.18 x 6 = $1.08
$1.94 - $1.08 = $0.86 difference
So right now, at Walmart, you are better off buying 6 individual Maruchen ramens rather than the pre-bundled 6-pack.
Even if you buy your Maruchen ramen at $0.25 each ($0.25 x 6 = $1.50) the 6-pack still falls short of being a better deal.
Now I have seen the regular price at $0.35 each at some stores and at that price ($.35 x 6 = $2.10) the 6-pack is a good buy!
Lesson here is, even if something is cheap, you still need to price compare!

Post a CommentNice work! You're dead on. Every cent counts!
Thanks!
It's not just the noodles. The prices on some other products are the same way.
Oh my goodness I have a story about that. I tried to show someone the difference between buying 3 prepackaged cup of soups @ $.89 and SIX bundled Ramen @ $1.39. I could not convince her the box of six was a better price. Crazy people!
You would hope buying in bulk would save, but guess they have to pay for that extra plastic that goes around the bundle?
Good advice!
Always compare prices, even for ramen, lol!
Good one! cheers :)
My husband loves these.
Good eye...grocery stores can be sneaky!
