There was an e-mail from from an employee who works at the Bradford International Film Festival that let it slip that a script was already underway for Wolverine 2 and that one of the writers who was screened for it was Simon Beaufoy, who wrote the script for Slumdog Millionaire.

The "slip" also listed the author (Beaufoy) has already been selected to write the script for Wolverine 2. It was also mentioned that Beaufoy had no idea who Wolverine actually was and this will no doubt cause heartburn in the Wolverine fan base. Evidently, the author only appeared because his agent basically forced him to. Beaufoy also commented that working on a film that's predessor is still going on strong was uncomfortable for him.

Hugh Jackman in an interview in early October with Katie Couric also Spilled the beans and said that a sequel is already in the works. He discussed his ideas for a plot line and the future of Wolverine. He wants to see the character go back and explore the time that Wolverine spent in Japan. This era has always been a big hit among series fans.

Wolverine was the latest in series of Marvel films that originated the X-Men comic book series and was a huge success at the movie theaters. It made over $35 million dollars the very first night that it was shown. And, it was ranked as number 37 all-time fastest movie rises to over 100 million.

The character of Wolverine first appeared in 1974 and was created by writer Len Wein. Wolverine became a superstar. He appeared in the Incredible Hulk series and later joined up as one of the X-Men. Wolverine is a mutant who underwent a government experiment that basically made his skeleton an indestructible metal alloy and also gave him some wicked claws. He has been ranked number 1 in the top 200 comic book characters of all time by Wizard Magazine and was also ranked number 4 in Empire Magazine's same poll that appeared in July 2008.

Hugh Jackman was actually the second choice for the role as Wolverine in the very first X-Men movies and the first choice was actually going to be Dougray Scott who was playing a role in Mission Impossible 2 at the time. But, that movie overran and Scott could not attend the opening of the X-Men production and so Jackman got the role as the second choice and it made him an instant superstar.
