Mary Kay Review: Intense Moisturizing Cream (Dry Skin) & Extra Emollient Night Cream

Intense Moisturizing Cream (Dry Skin) - I have been using this product for the past two months. At first, I thought that there wasn't really a change in my skin. I didn't feel the difference in my face at first. Then I got a compliment on how smooth and soft my face was looking. So I actually made myself slow down enough when I was cleaning my face to see how it was looking. I started to pay attention to how my face was feeling. I had never really thought about it before. I just slapped the moisturizer on and went to bed. But to receive a compliment from a peer, I was very flattered and realized I needed to focus more on myself and my skin care products.

My nightly routine has been the same for over 30 years: wash with Noxema, apply moisturizer. Just very simple. I have never paid a lot for my skin care products. I've always felt that good products come at reasonable prices, too. I've always just used whatever was priced the best. Then recently at a Mary Kay party, I saw the Intense Moisturizing Cream. After reading about the product and talking to the rep, I decided to spend that extra little bit and try it. For 1.8 oz. it costs $30. I thought, wow! I'm breaking the bank! (I'm used to spending $2 for 24 oz.!) Now I think to myself that it is well worth the money. I've been using the same jar for two months and probably have one more month left, so the cost per month averages out to about $10. That's not a bad price at all considering there are people who spend way more than that on a smaller amount.

This is a very thick moisturizer. It tends to feel a little oily, but with my really dry skin, that's okay. Since I use it only at night, the thick, oily feeling doesn't bother me. Now, don't get me wrong, it's not a major oily feel, just more than my regular lotion. Some people may like to use it under their make-up, but I wouldn't want to. I have also used this on my hands, which tend to get dry and cracked. It helps them a lot, also.

On the Mary Kay website, it describes the moisturizer as: "This luxurious cream leaves your skin feeling hydrated for up to 10 hours as it infuses the skin with a marine extract, vitamin E and minerals like copper, magnesium and zinc that help nourish skin beautifully. Great for dry skin." I totally agree with their description. It is an amazing moisturizer at a good price.

Extra Emollient Night Cream - Here is another product that I really do love from Mary Kay. I've used this one for years now. I bought the Satin Hands set and this is my favorite part of it. You can now buy just the Emollient Night Cream. It is a bargain at $11 for 2.1 oz.

The website describes it this way: "For extremely dry skin. Helps maintain the natural moisture of the face and replenishes hydration in especially dry areas such as hands, elbows and feet. Contains petrolatum, beeswax and mineral oil to help protect, condition and seal in moisture." What it doesn't tell you is how great it is for those times when you've blown your nose so much, you've made it raw and sore! Or for those extremely chapped winter lips. That is why I use this product. It's great to have around not for daily use, but extreme use. Those times when lotion actually burns because you are so dry and chapped. It is a winter staple for me. I apply it to my sore nose, chapped lips or hands right before bed and by the time I get up the next day, my skin is on it's way to healing. After just one night, my skin no longer hurts. After the second night, it is completely healed. This really is an amazing product for all those times when colds or allergies have even irrated your skin. So, it is very well worth the money!
