That is the case for Mary KaySignature Lip Polish. Knowing that I like to wear shades that have a brown undertone, Julie gave me an 8g. tube of MK Signature Lip Polish in the color "Blushing" for Christmas. For those of you that don't know, I love lipstick. Shoot, I love anything that has to do with lips. I am the Lip Balm Queen. Even if I don't wear any other makeup, I do wear lipstick, lip gloss or lip balm.
The packaging is simple: A clear tube with a silver cap and silver lettering. There are no ingredients written on the package at all; only "Made in Italy" and the different locations of Mary Kay Headquarters. Inside, you will find the applicator (a sponge-like material on a plastic stick attached to the inside of the cap) and the crème lipstick beneath a spill-proof seal. The seal has a small opening in the center, which removes excess lipstick from the applicator when you pull it out for a more even application.
The lipstick itself is creamy and keeps your lips moist for as long as it lasts. Unfortunately, the lipstick doesn't last all that long. Forget about eating, drinking, kissing, or doing anything else with your mouth if you want this lipstick to last. The color is rich and goes on smoothly and evenly. Signature Lip Polish comes in five colors: Blushing, Cider, Red Ribbon, Sweet Maple and Tickled Pink. Blushing, Cider and Sweet Maple have brown undertones. I think the other two names are pretty self-explanatory.
Unfortunately, MK Signature Lip Polish is a limited edition item. It sells for $12, but it isn't listed in the catalog. I think that the $12 price tag is a bit steep, however, because it doesn't last very long. Then again, the tube has lasted me a month and a half already, and I've barely made a dent in the crème. Yet, if one must keep applying the makeup, perhaps the tube won't last as long as another sold in the same weight with longer-lasting coverage.
If this is an item that you would like, ask your Mary Kay Consultant for it by name. (Or you can email me, and I will put you in touch with Julie!) There's a good chance that this won't make it into the "regular" catalog, especially if the majority of the response is similar to mine. Personally, I think you should pass.
