Due in part to its close proximity to Washington, DC, there is no shortage of holiday light displays in Baltimore, Maryland. While there are many different holiday light displays to choose from, I have selected some of the best ones. Here, you will find the top holiday light displays in Baltimore.

The Garden of Lights at Brookside Gardens has long been a favorite among locals in Baltimore. At the Garden of Lights you will see over a half a million lights that make up a half-mile lit up garden. This is a pretty popular place around the holidays so, make sure you plan your trip early and during the week if you want to miss most of the crowds. Note that the light show is open on selected dates and is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas eve, Christmas and New Year's Eve. They do have a hotline that you can call for updates, especially if the weather is bad, at (301) 962 - 1453. The Garden of Lights starts on November 17th and admission to it is $15 for cars or van. Hours are from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm with the last car being admitted at 8:30 pm. Brookside Gardens is located at 1500 Glenallen Ave, Wheaton, MD 20902. For more info you can visit their website or give them a call at (301) 962 - 1453.

You will not want to miss the 20th annual Parade of Lighted Boats. It happens on December 1st at 6pm at Fells Point and Baltimore's Inner Harbor. You will see over 30 sail boats and power boats decked out in their holiday finest of lots of holiday lights. The parade starts at 6pm and prizes will be award to the best decorated boats. It is sponsored by the Fells Point Yacht Club and more info can be found on their website.

If you want to see Mount Vernon lit up you will not want to miss the 36th annual Lighting of the Washington Monument. The festivities are not limited to lighting up the monument - you can also enjoy food vendors, choir performances, fireworks, celebrity guests and more. The fun starts at 5:30 pm but the lighting ceremony does not begin until 7 pm. This is a free event. If you need more info you can call (410) 244 - 1030. The Washington Monument is located at Mount Vernon, the 600 block of North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21201.
