Marzetti Creamy Caesar Dressing Review and Pita Chip Recipe

A Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down?

Lyn McCallister
I recently experimented with Marzetti's Creamy Caesar dressing as a mock taste test for my family. We received one sample packet and used it on salad, used it with carrots, and used it with our homemade dippin' pita chips. The pita chip recipe follows below.

In the taste test, I hid the brand name and had two other Caesar dressings for comparison. One dressing was homemade and the other was a generic, store brand.

The results were mixed: two people did not like the dressing while one person thought the dressing was just satisfactory.

Why a thumbs down rating?
The dressing was too acidic on the tongue and did not have the expected creaminess and depth of flavor as other comparable Caesar dressings. The dressing poured thinly and did not stick well to the salad greens. The dressing was overwhelmed by harsh vinegars.

Why the satisfactory rating?
One person did like the dressing, but not enough to become a favorite, new Caesar dressing. The main drawback for this taste tester was the high acidity.

What dressing won?
Not surprisingly, the homemade dressing won. The homemade dressing was richer, creamier, and had the best taste without notable acidity. The Marzetti Creamy Caesar dressing has the potential to become a contender if the acidity is reduced, the flavors become more robust, and the consistency thickened up.

Would we buy this dressing?
We probably will not buy this dressing in its current formulation. However, if you enjoy a more acidic Caesar dressing, then give this one a try.

Dippin' Pita Chips Recipe

Try Marzetti's Creamy Caesar Dressing as a dip. I make these dippin' pita chips as an appetizer or to bring to parties. These chips work great with salsa too!

Ingredients
Marzetti's Creamy Caesar dressing
Flour tortillas, your favorite brand
Aged Asiago cheese, finely shredded
Non-stick cooking spray

Directions
1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

2. Spray a baking sheet with the non-stick cooking spray.

3. Cut your tortillas into large wedges.

4. Place wedges on baking sheet.

5. Sprinkle finely shredded Asiago cheese on each tortilla wedge. Just use a little cheese on each wedge as the flavor will go a long ways!

6. Bake for about 8 minutes or until crispy and golden brown.

7. Pour the Marzetti dressing into a serving bowl.

8. Place the dippin' pita chips on a large platter.

9. Serve and enjoy while the pita chips are still warm.
