Mass Social Hypnosis to Be Performed on Twitter & Facebook

Cathy A Montville
If you have not experienced hypnosis but would like to give it a try from the comfort of your home, here is your chance. Chris Hughes, who has been a practicing hypnotherapist and hypnotist for over five years, will attempt a mass online hypnosis session for users of Twitter and Facebook on January 4, 2010 at 8:30 PM GMT. Hughes hopes to set a "hypnosis by webcam" world record. Hughes has dubbed the hypnosis session, "#Socialtrance."

What to Expect During the Online Hypnosis

Not sure how the webcam plays in here, but according to his website, Chris Hughes claims the session will promote "positive suggestions for change that will benefit everyone." He also notes some "fun" stuff for participants, which will include "...being unable to get out of your chair."

Hughes says during the mass hypnosis, participants will also have their hands stuck together as well as their eyes and experience total relaxation. You will be able to leave the session when or if you want to. As a long-time participant in hypnosis sessions, I have always been able to leave a session safely and entirely on my own.

To Participate

Apparently, all you need to take part in Chris Hughes "#Socialtrance" is a computer or laptop and naturally a connection to the Internet. He states you need to have a comfortable chair, headphones or speakers and a place where you will not be disturbed while taking part in the hypnosis session.

Special Rules - Must be 18 & Medical Considerations

Hughes' website has "The Rules" of the webcam hypnosis session clearly posted. He asks that you not participate in the event if; you are diagnosed with a psychotic illness, pregnant or have a mental illness.

Hughes also states you should not participate in the hypnosis if you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. If you have Epilepsy, he advises you confer with your doctor before you take part in "#Socialtrance."

About Chris Hughes

Hughes' bio states he is a graduate of Florida's Omni Hypnosis Training Center. He further sates he trained with "one of America's leading hypnotists," Gerald F. Kein. His credentials include being a certified member of the National Guild of Hypnotists and he conducts classes and demonstrations throughout the United Kingdom.

Helping people to stop smoking and lose weight is Chris Hughes specialty in the world of hypnosis, according to the bio on his website.

Is Hypnosis For Real?

Years ago, I lost weight through hypnosis, but it took a few starts and stops before I experienced actual weight-loss progress through hypnosis. I have also undergone several Past Life Regressions under hypnosis, which were extremely successful.

Many people find hypnosis objectionable due to religious reasons. Others are simply uncomfortable with the entire aspect. If you are among those, however, who are curious about this fascinating process, tune in to Twitter and Facebook on January 4th for "#Socialtrance." Go to "#Socialtrance" for additional information and a link to Chris Hughes' Facebook and Twitter pages where you can sign up to participate.
