Massacre at Ft Hood

Another Terrorist Attack on US Soil?

Cheryl Engelke
Six days until Veteran's Day and there has been a horrendous massacre in the largest Military Base in the US. Ft. Hood, Texas, named for Confederate Gen. John Bell Hood, a leader who gained recognition during the Civil War as the commander of Hood's Texas Brigade."A 340 square mile installation (217,337 acres), Fort Hood is the only post in the United States capable of stationing and training two Armored Divisions."

Two were arrested for the shooting were released and another man, Army Major Malik Nadal Hasan, 39, thought to be responsible was believed dead, but now reports say that he is in critical condition at a local hospital. The shooting occurred at the Soldiers Readiness Processing Center, used to process soldiers about to be deployed overseas. Originally, reports stated that the shooting had occurred at three separate locations. News reports are no longer reporting this and it seems the cover-ups have started.

Hasan was a mental health professional, a licensed psychiatrist that had a private practice on base. It has been said that Hasan was due to be deployed to either Iraq or Afghanistan and was not happy about it. Hasan was from Virginia and was a known Muslim. One has to wonder, in light of the events of 9/11, if this was another carefully planned attack on US soil. Prior to 9/11 the men involved took flying lessons in order to overtake the aircrafts they hijacked. With Hasan being a professional in the mental health field, it is entirely possible that he enlisted as an officer and has not "worked" his way up the military ladder. No one is releasing his military history as of yet.

Although officials are quick to affirm that there is no evidence to conclude that this was a terrorist act, but a criminal one, it is foremost on many minds. One thing is for sure, until all questions are answered, conspiracy theories will abound. In the meantime, our thoughts and prayers go out to those involved and their families.
