Massive Winter Storm Sweeps Through Oklahoma

Teresa Erwin
A record setting winter storm batters the Midwest as millions endure gusty winds and record amounts of snow, ice, and rain. With gusts of 50 mile per hour winds and over a foot of snow already, Stillwater Oklahoma residents prepare for freezing temperatures below zero.

Heavy snow and ice accumulation has many residents concerned about losing power as the weight of all this snow and ice could cause power outages. Meteorologists are warning residents to prepare for several days of severe winter weather conditions.

Snow accumulation of 16 inches has been reported in Stillwater, Oklahoma (Marlow, T., 2011). Blizzard warnings and conditions had many residents emptying out grocery stores as they prepared for this record setting blizzard.

As many hope for the best and stay off the roads, this massive winter storm is sure to set records not only in Oklahoma but across the country. Many cities and states are wondering where they will put all this snow after this massive storm passes.
