Master Cleanse #Fail Online Diary

I was Supposed to Master Cleanse for a Week and #Failed Miserably!

Leslie Jones McCloud

Last week was a bust. I did not do the master cleanse properly. Instead, I fell off of the wagon and ate all sorts of food. I picked off of my child's plate and outright ate whole meals. I was supposed to cleanse the three days leading up to Mother's Day so that I could enjoy barbecue--and I did that. I was supposed to go back on the cleanse at the end of that week. That, I did not do. I also had to ask for more Chantix. Enough said.

Stress can affect one's diet in strange ways. I just did not have the discipline I showed during the three day cleanse. On the morning I was supposed to start the week-long cleanse, I got up at 2 a.m. and polished off my kid's uneaten pasta casserole that I made. I figured if I make a casserole then it only needs to be heated during the week--which will help me not to want to eat. Didn't work out that way. One day, my dad bought all of his grand kids pizza and I happened to be there. I had two slices. SMH!

I gave up mid-week. Why waste the cleanse? Instead I refocused efforts on putting more fiber in my diet. I bought flaxseed from Ultra grocery store and wheat bran. I made savory flaxseed crackers that I ate the next day with dip. I should have used Greek yogurt. I am now baking fiber cookies with ground flaxseed (put it in your coffee grinder) ground oats and wheat brand. I moistened it with quarter cup black coffee, diet soda, skim milk and added vanilla and two eggs. I added a bit of pumpkin spice, ginger, cinnamon and a heaping tablespoon of cocoa. I added four packs of Splenda and a tablespoon of brown sugar.

Since I made this up as I went, I added half cup of peanut butter. I mixed the dry together, then the wet and combined the two. I dropped them by the spoonful onto a greased cookie sheet and baked them at 325 for 20 minutes. I found a recipe for fiber cookies on Cooks.com but I altered it dramatically.

Let's face facts: I don't want the fiber cookies because they taste soooo good but because I need fiber in my diet. With all the bentonite clay power (that I take dry now) and water, senna and green tea, I decided to truly cleanse first, then take the master cleanse so that it may be more effective.

Wow. The oven timer dinged. Time to take the fiber cookies out of the oven.

I just had some of the cookies. They are horrible. I should have pat them out into cakes first. I apparently did not put enough baking powder in them. The flavor is great but they are sooo not sweet. I just realized how addicted to sugar I really am--but no more. No more sugar. I have dramatically cut sugar from my diet. I was never a fan of salt. I figure if I want to eat holiday food, then during the times there are no reasons to celebrate with food, I will have an austere diet high in fiber, low in fat and no sugar, salt, or processed food. The last things to go will be the diet soda. Every now and again I just want some pop. I like a nice, ice-cold glass of diet cola. There isn't much else left in my diet!

Maybe after Memorial Day I can actually conduct the master cleanse fast but until then, it is fiber, fiber, fiber! (and a whole bunch of water, tea, pop and broth!)
