Mastering Joomla: How to Install Web Polls on Your Joomla Website
A Step-by-Step Tutorial on Installing Web Polls on Your Website
Web polls are a convenient way to evaluate the opinions of your website's visitors. Questions can be posted on polls and the results will be represented as a percentage. Joomla features a built-in poll feature so you don't have to download a separate extension. Joomla's poll manager makes managing polls very easy and it displays results on a separate page.
Step #1
To create a web poll on Joomla, you need to first click on the Components button near the top of your administrator page. On the drop-down menu, you need to click Polls to pull a page for poll options.
Step #2
You now need to click on the existing sample poll in order to edit it. Replace the survey questions with your own and delete the ones you do not need.
Step #3
With the questions complete, you can click Save to save your web poll.
Step #4
Once the poll is published, you can temporarily remove it by clicking the Unpublish icon. You can permanently remove polls by clicking the Delete button. If you don't like the web poll module included in Joomla, you can download and install a separate poll extension.
How to Install a web poll extension
Installing web poll extensions is very similar to adding other extensions and modules.
Step #1
First you have to download the web poll application from the Internet. Polls can be downloaded from http://extensions.joomla.org.
Step #2
The file will most likely be in .zip format, which is a compressed file. Save the file on any folder on your computer so that you will be able to access it later.
Step #3
After you saved the file, you need to log onto the Joomla administrator panel and go to the Installers menu.
Step #4
On the Installers menu, you will need to click Upload File and Install. Next, you will need to click Browse. You now need to select the file of the web poll extension you downloaded earlier.
Step #5
Once selected, click Upload and install. After you have installed the web poll, click Continue and proceed to complete the installation.
