Mastering the Maze Game in Wizard 101

The way to increase your pet's stats and abilities in Wizard 101 is by playing pet training games. Each game costs you pet energy in different amounts based on your pet's current level. Pets can be baby, teen, adult, ancient and epic.

To get the most from the pet games, you should have pet snacks available to feed your pet after the game is finished. This is the only time you can feed your pet so take advantage of the extra boosts that the snacks give. You can buy snacks in the bazaar or at the pet pavilion, win them in battle or you can purchase recipes and craft them yourself.

Higher level snacks give more stats. If you really want to level your pet up fast, you can buy a mega snack pack with crowns at the crown shop. They give much more stats than the other purchased, won or crafted snack items.

The maze game is just that. It is a hedge maze that your pet races through collecting food items and avoiding ghosts. The hedge is short and you can see over it so you know where the ghosts and other items are located. Before playing you will choose what snack the maze is filled with. Different snacks give different ability amounts. The snacks you choose from are pizza, cake, apples and fish.

When you begin the game, there is a small delay before you start so you can look out over the maze and quickly decide which way to head. There are power-up items in the maze that help you out. Red stars give you a speed boost for a limited time. Blue stars allow you to gobble the ghosts up for a limited time; much like Pac Man. In fact, the overall game is very similar and some of the same strategies can be employed.

You avoid the ghosts unless you have eaten a blue star and the sparks coming up from the pets feet indicate that you can gobble them. It is limited and will run out after a short bit. The ghosts move slower than you do, so if you eat a red star to speed up you probably don't want to be right behind a ghost. It will waste your speed boost if you have to stop to keep from running into a ghost. If you run into a ghost without the blue star power, you will be frozen for a short time and won't be able to eat as many snacks in the maze. There are also clock power-ups that give you extra time in the maze, these are worth going for if you can reach them without being frozen.

The real trick to doing well in this game is knowing how the ghosts move about. The ghosts will not enter where they have to turn around; so, you can duck into a dead end and let them pass if you are about to be caught. They will not enter the dead end areas and they always take the first available right turn that isn't a dead end. If they are on a path that has no right turns, they will take the last available left that is not a dead end. This can be useful in deciding which way you should go at the start and in the maze to avoid the ghosts. The more snacks you eat in the maze, the more stats you receive at the end of the game.
