for birthday wishes,
whispered love,
and sad goodbyes.
Each box is filled with
summer dreams of
campfire songs
and sparklers' shooting stars.
Saviors in the storm,
a glow in the darkness,
to chase away deep shadows,
until I find your face.
Before I sleep,
a softly carried scent,
a puff of breath . . .
and one last curl of smoke.

welldone!
Love it. Sorry, I'm still not getting your publication notices so I play catch-up when I realize I haven't seen your name in awhile.
Tina Twito, your magic is in this poem. You did a great job of tying the end in with the beginning also. Plus, the end gives that image of the last of the light going out, so it adds a finality to the poem. &)
Great imagery, deep as always :)
