Match

Tina Twito
Strike and flame
for birthday wishes,
whispered love,
and sad goodbyes.

Each box is filled with
summer dreams of
campfire songs
and sparklers' shooting stars.

Saviors in the storm,
a glow in the darkness,
to chase away deep shadows,
until I find your face.

Before I sleep,
a softly carried scent,
a puff of breath . . .
and one last curl of smoke.

    Tina Twito, your magic is in this poem. You did a great job of tying the end in with the beginning also. Plus, the end gives that image of the last of the light going out, so it adds a finality to the poem. &)
