Material Girl for Macy's

Madonna and her daughter Lola are slated to debut their newest fashion junior collection exclusively at Macy's on August 3rd. The line, named Material Girl (Naturally!) is just what you'd expect from the name; vintage inspired pieces with iconic Madonna style, circa "Like a Virgin" era. The collection is said to be influenced by films, music videos and street fashion, but Madonna's 13-year-old daughter, Lourdes, serving as the biggest inspiration for the line. Her keen eye for fashion raiding through her mother's designer and vintage pieces serve as key influences for Material Girl's designs which are fashion forward and current with today's current trends. Items for apparel include high waisted pants, tutu's, lace cropped tights, cowboy shirts and crop tops. The items are designed to be blended together and layered for a strong fashion statement.

We have to wonder if there will be longevity for this line after the 80's influenced trends have passed. Perhaps her line, will evolve like her image over the years, highlighting all the different influences she has taken over her music career. Can we then expect a collection with trends from her Ray of Light and Frozen days? If we can make any predictions based on Madonna's past seasonal collection exclusively for H&M, which sold out within the first days of launch, then Material Girl may be just what Macy's needs to boost sales.

Material Girl will include apparel, footwear, handbags, jewelry and hair accessories, just in time for the busiest shopping season of the year, back-to-school. Items will retail with price points between $12 and $40 and a few luxury items like a studded motorcycle jacket priced at $68. The collection will be available in 200 select Macy's and online with full throttle promotion and marketing campaigns already in the works.
