Here's where it gets interesting, Matt Cassel was drafted by the Pats in the seventh round in the 2005 draft. Matt has actually led an exciting sports filled life, he was featured in the 1994 Little League World Series while his two brothers share success in the Majors. He has a winning spirit about him and is very competitive.
It seems that everyone is saying that the Pats will not make the playoffs without Brady, well I've got news for you, everyone said they couldn't get to the playoffs without Bledsoe either. Lets take a look at the talent base Cassel has around him. RANDY MOSS, yes, one of the most talented wide receivers ever to play the game. The Pats will go to the playoffs and I believe will make a good run at the Super Bowl. Matt Cassel will be the next best thing come December and either him or Brady will be with another team next year. Great quarterbacks seem to few and far between these days in the NFL and to get to learn from a program like the Pats will give Cassel a huge advantage in being a starting quarterback for another team.
Let's talk fantasy for a minute, If I didn't have Jay Cutler and John Kitna (fantasy sleeper) I would have snapped him up in a heart beat. He will still score the points that any other fantasy starter will, maybe even more. He has the team around him, he has the coaching staff and he has the talent, don't be scared if you lost Brady in your fantasy league, Matt Cassel will be just fine.
I really do believe that Matt Cassel will be a household name on his own accord by the end of the year. I also think he will be demanding a new contract with another team that will offer him a starting position. I am now expert on NFL quarterbacks but you can smell the shake up from Denver and the Pats situation will be shaken and stirred by the end of the season.
