Matt Smith is Brilliant as the Eleventh Doctor Who on BBCA
This Doctor Will Stand Toe to Toe with His Nemesis Without Batting an Eye
David's version of the Doctor was instantly lovable with his handsome yet quirky facial expressions and his distain for violence. Matt's Doctor is just as quirky, however, his belief "if you hit me I will hit back in my desire to protect humanity at all cost attitude" is a bit different from David. This version of the Doctor will stand toe to toe with his nemesis without batting an eye.
The Doctor wouldn't be the Doctor without his trusty travel companions. David had the privilege of traveling with three wonderful and talented ladies; Rose Tyler played by the talented singer Billie Piper, his second, Martha Jones also a doctor played by the beautiful black actress Freema Agyeman and last but not least the comedic shape-tongued Donna Noble portrayed by the brilliant comic actor Catherine Tate. All three ladies gave David a run for his money. It didn't hurt that David's doctor literally loved to run. Dashing from planet to planet sporting his long flowing brown full length evening coat his running scenes were legendary.
Matt Smith's portrayal of the Doctor is just as energetic as David Tennant. His scenes with his new found companion, Amy Pond played by 21 year old Scottish actor Karen Gillan are packed with sibling like rants and verbal banter. The interior of the TARDIS has also been given a face lift. Even though it's loaded with new blinking gadgets and gizmos he still continues to carry his trusted sonic screw driver to help him out of sticky intergalactic situations.
Originally an inspiring football player Matthew Robert Smith decided to become an actor in 2003 after a back injury. At the ripe age of 27 Matt is the youngest person to play Doctor Who since Peter Davison played the fifth Doctor filming his first episode at 29. Following David Tennant's five year mega success Matt has some pretty big shoes to fill as the eleventh Doctor. However after watching his first episode I don't think he will be a one season wonder. Only two other actors have played the Doctor for one year; the eighth and ninth Doctors, Paul McGann in 1996 and the premier of the new series featuring Christopher Eccleston returning as the Doctor in 2005.
The most recognized Doctor is the curly haired, multi-colored scarf wearing actor Tom Baker who played the charismatic Time Lord from 1974 through 1981. He still remains the longest incarnation of the character in the history of the show. Don't miss a minute of the Doctor and Amy saving the galaxy from unforeseen invaders, Daleks and Cybermen. Watch the new season of Doctor Who on the BBCA Saturday nights at 9:00 pm EST.

Post a CommentGood article. I still think his head looks a funny shape. While I like the new Doctor Who, the greatest for me will be the older Doctors from the 60's and 70's. Doctor Who back then was more mysterious and scary. Now everything happens so fast it's hard for the audience to keep up. Well me anyhow! It's more of a comedy show these days.
Great Review! I look forward to watching this Doctor Who.
