The Best Star Wars Writer and Sci-Fi Fantasy Best-Seller You're Not Reading
The Acts of Caine, has recently had a new interview at BookSpot Central about his new Star Wars books. The interview is incredibly long and detailed, featuring exclusive information about

In his new interview, Matthew Stover answered interesting questions about his Star Wars novels. After achieving critical acclaim for his best-selling Star Wars novels, he offered hints at the storyline of
Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor, his latest addition for the Star Wars Expanded Universe novels; to be released on December 30th, 2009.
A perfect gift for Christmas for any Star Wars fan.
Who is Matthew Stover?
- The best writer you're not reading. Matthew Stover is widely held by the Star Wars community as one of the most controversial authors in the Star Wars EU. His best-selling novel
Shatterpoint, featuring Mace Windu's experience in the Summertime War in his home planet of Haruun Kal. Shatterpoint, Traitor, and Revenge of the Sith all became New York Times best-sellers and launched Matthew Stover into fame.
-Matthew Stover is an avid martial artist and trains in the Degerberg Blend, a unique study of many deady martial arts styles from around the world. His fight scenes in the Star Wars novels, Mace Windu's skill with Vaapad, and the gory battle scenes in the Caine novels, are some of the examples of his renowned skill in writing action. His experience as a martial artist echoes in his narrative voice.
-Matthew Stover is highly criticized and praised for his adaption of the morally grey nature of humanity in times of psychological war. His characterization of Mace Windu in his reluctant role as a hated hero on his own home world and the Vietnam-like guerilla warfare and horrors reminiscient of
Heart of Darkness changed the way Star Wars novels were to be told for good. In
Traitor, the definitive novel of the
New Jedi Order series, Stover broke boundaries and held nothing back with Jacen Solo.
- Before the blockbuster Star Wars film
Revenge of the Sith was released in theaters in 2005, Matthew Stover was given the great responsibility to write the actual story of the final chapter of the prequel trilogy. He characterized Anakin Skywalker's legendary transformation into Darth Vader, the iconic villain of pop culture and the main antagonist of the original Star Wars trilogy.
Matthew Stover's New Upcoming Caine Novels and Future Caine Releases
- Matthew Stover is the author of the
Acts of Caine, a series of sci-fi fantasy novels centering around one of the baddest characters in a brutal universe full of treachery, magic, suspense, and gore.
- The series currently has three novels -
Heroes Die,
Blade of Tyshalle, and
Caine Black Knife. All have been given rave reviews from critics from both the Star Wars community and the die hard Caine fan community. Heroes Die was released in 1997,
Blade of Tyshalle hit the shelves in 2001, and Caine Black Knife, his newest novel, was released in October 14th, 2008.
-Stover also writes in his popular internet blog when he isn't writing, which receives hundreds of comments and show cases new information about his new books. He writes many incredibly interesting posts of American politics, current events, new release dates, and Caine details. He currently has plans to write future Caine novels - His Father's Fist (the sequel to Caine Black Knife) and Dead Man's Heart. He even has a plan for an entirely new Caine trilogy, called the
Act of Faith.
The Controversy of Matthew Stover's Novels in the Star Wars Universe
In my personal opinion, I regard Matthew Stover as one of my inspirations as a writer. His works have an Existentialist theme to them and his iconic character Caine is so legendary that he should have his own Hollywood movie series. I'm dead serious.
Critics can whine all they want but the real Star Wars fan appreciates Stover's ability to make philosophical discussion of morality , sociopolitical commentary, meaning of life itself powerful and entertaining at the same time. The entire persona of Mace Windu in the films and the novels is because of Matthew Stover, including his lightsaber form of Vaapad.
Popular writer John Scalzi wrote in his blog, Whatever, that Stover was a master at hand-selling his masterpiece epic works of art. His works are "smart and violent" and should be read by everyone. That's not just my opinion.
You know what I think? I think his novels should be made into Hollywood movies. Just read his books, any book - and you know what Star Wars fan and the sci-fi fantasy genre is buzzing about. I'll finish with a definitive quote from the Matthew Stover interview that should explain my argument why controversy critics should see the intentions behind his realistic portrayal of religion the human condition. Did I make that sound deep enough?
Jay Tomio: "What gave birth to Caine - why must Heroes Die?"
Matthew Stover: "Everybody dies. But in the realm of fantasy-where the terrain is psychological as well as physical-everything is a metaphor. Even death. In Joseph Campbell's formulation, the hero's death is an essential component of the journey."
That should.
Go read his books.

Er, no, he just got hand-sold the books. By a person who worked at the store. The way they're supposed to.
I'm a Star wars fan I just rarely read the books, I'll have to try some of his though. Thanks for the info and great article.
Isn't Matt Stover the old kicker for the Cleveland Browns and then the Ravens when the franchise moved to Baltimore?
