Matt's Steakhouse in Missouri, Fine Dining and Great Atmosphere

If you travel through the Midwest at all you have got to work Matt's Steakhouse into your schedule. Sitting right on the interstate just outside of the Rolla city limits. Rolla is located halfway in between St. Louis and Springfield, Missouri.

Matt's formerly opened inside the city limits as Tenth St. Dinner House and was famous for its endless salad and bread sticks. They served the salad family style and it was delicious. I always got the Mahi Mahi and hand dipped onion rings and my husband got the Halibut.

After several years in town Tenth St. moved to the interstate and reopened last spring as Matt's Steakhouse. The building is huge. More parking than you will ever need and although it has a sign on the building it's hard to see. Once inside, the entry greets you with a poured gravel floor with their name embedded in it. The atmosphere and the colors are so warm and inviting. The fireplace is cozy with a continuous waterfall running over it. The fireplace takes up the center of the room and is a great sound buffer that allows for private conversation. All the tables are in the open room but seem private with the sound of the waterfall. There is a bar area with great seating.

We celebrated tonight for a friend's birthday around 6:00 p.m. There were seven at our table and the place was full. Our waitress was great. She took our picture and got our drinks to us as quick as we could empty them.

Appetizers ranged from 3.99 to 8.99. They have everything from Crab Stuffed Mushrooms to Toasted Ravioli. We opted for hand dipped onion rings. They were the size of a saucer. Delicate batter and delicious. My husband ordered the mushrooms and let me tell you with the crab and cheese stuffed in them they were a meal unto themselves. To quote Rachael Ray "Yum-O!"

Chicken Alfredo seemed to be the popular dish tonight. I ordered steak kabobs. I have to say usually they melt like butter in your mouth and tonight it was tough. I will have to assume that was a fluke because it was the first that has happened. Everyone was raving over the pasta dishes and the Tenth Street Dressing on the salads.

Matt's discontinued the endless salads and bread sticks when they moved to the new place. I think that was a mistake. Everyone would like to have that back. Our meals ranged from 6.99 to 12.99 and very much worth it. Although, there were other dishes more expensive on the menu this seemed to be the average.

From eating there so many years I can tell you I have not ordered anything that I didn't like. If you are interested in a sandwich by all means try the French Dip. The bread is toasted but soft and the roast beef on it is tender. The Mahi Mahi is fish so thick it looks like a chicken fillet. The fillet is juicy and tender. Whatever flavoring they use on it compliments it well. They definitely have great burgers and steaks as the name suggests. Then there's dessert. They only offer cheesecakes and bread pudding, but it is to die for.

I love the new updated building and as always the food is great. It's easy to get to from the highway and the food is so plentiful you can really feed two with any one of the meals. You can contact them for further directions at 573-364-1220. Matt's Steakhouse is at Dillon Outer Road in Rolla, Missouri.

So, try to stop by and visit them and tell them Pam McCall sent you. Enjoy!

Dined at Matt's this week for my son's 21st birthday and left very full and very happy. Food was great from start to finish and service was friendly and efficient. Only wish I had left our waiter (Chris?) a larger tip. Had dined there last fall for my own birthday and definitely will go back
if in Rolla for other special occasions.

As a business owner we like for everyone to enjoy Rolla when they visit even if its not our own business.

Matt%27s Steakhouse seemed to be a promising meal for my husband and I but a rude owner and a bad steak quickly changed that. The prices were incredibly inflated for the product rendered. We are from St. Louis and have access to much better restaurants and would never pay that much for such an awful experience.
