Maui: Old Lahaina Luau - Enjoy the Best Luau in the Islands!

John Kelly
The sun is setting gently into the Pacific Ocean and the breeze is blowing across your face. The torches are lit and the Hawaiian drumbeat in the background is growing from a soft beat to strong pulse. From behind the open air circular stage comes a host of young native men and women attired in grass skirts and tea skirts. The show has begun.

On your trip to Maui there is one place on the island that is must do attraction when it relates to food. That is the Old Lahaina Luau in Lahaina, Maui. If you choose just one feast or luau to attend during your trip to the Hawaiian Islands this should be the one you attend. From the setting at the edge of the Pacific Ocean to the native craftsmen sitting along the beach making and selling their native wares you will enjoy this activity. At Old Lahaina you will experience the Kalua pig, Ahe Poke, and many other native dishes customarily served at luaus. You may also choose chicken and a variety of other dishes if you prefer.

Old Lahaina Luau includes an open bar in the price of your ticket. They server everything from soft drinks to the local favorites, Mai Tai's and Lava Flows. You will experience excellent service from the staff and the food is excellent.

You will round out your evening with an unbelievable performance of hula and native dance that will leave you standing on your feet and applauding.

I would strongly suggest that if this event is on your itinerary that you book your tickets in advance as this show fills up on a regular basis. You would not want to make the trip and then miss the opportunity to see the show because you failed to book your tickets in advance. I also suggest you arrive a little bit early so that you can find a good parking spot. If not, you will have to park across the street at the mall or the supermarket and walk a couple of blocks. But hey, your in Hawaii, enjoy the breeze and the walk. One other thing to keep in mind is that the seats closest to the stage are mat seating. So, if you prefer a table and chair you need to request this when you make your reservations. You will be more comfortable in the long with table seating.
