The Cool Cat Cafe in Lahaina is, in a word, cool. We're not being lazy with the descriptive terms here, there simply may be no better word for this fantastic place. From the black and white checkered floor and 50's decor covering the walls, to the bar up front and the red vinyl booths in the back, Cool Cat Cafe in Lahaina is one of those Maui restaurants where you know you've made a good choice as soon as you walk in.

Read on for a full Cool Cat Cafe review, and decide if you'll be adding it to your list of Maui restaurants to visit. We think you will!

Maui Restaurants: Cool Cat Cafe Lahaina Review and Menu

Located on the top of a two story buildingin the Wharf Cinema Center on Front Street, across from Banyan Tree Park, Cool Cat Cafe comes highly recommended by locals. Out of ten people we asked, about 8 of them mentioned or insisted Cool Cat Cafe was the place to go. The restaurant's biggest claim to fame? An annual "Best Burgers In Maui" title win from Maui Time Weekly newspaper.

This title is well deserved. The burgers at Cool Cat Cafe are entirely satisfying, and the Maui onion rings are little circles of fried bliss. The fries aren't bad, either, so order up a basket of Frings (half fries, half rings) for $6 to go along with the best burger in Maui.

Burgers range from $9.49 for a basic burger, upwards to nearly $14 for the Bonanza burger, which entails "three burger patties; yep, more than a pound of beef". Our favorite? The Luna burger, hold the Thousand Island. The Luna ($13) boasts bacon, cheese, avocado, mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickles, sweet Maui onions and Thousand Island dressing.

When we dined, service was quick and friendly. After our meals, we stuck around for free root beer floats, which we earned by bringing in coupons we received first from the local Hilo Hattie store, and again from a local artist in Banyan Tree Park. Free or not, they are delicious. After a day of fun in Lahaina, sitting in Cool Cat Cafe, sipping a post-burger root beer float and taking in the 50's decor and quirky vibe of the place just makes sense!

Two years ago, we ate there and besides a great hamburger, they have the best fish sandwich in Maui. Great place!
