Maui Wowi Coffee in Ramsey NJ: Smoothies and a Touch of Hawaii

Maui Wowi opened recently in Ramsey , N.J. right on Main Street. It's very surfer, Hawaai, Coconut and Mango mixed with smoothies, teas, dessert, Paninis and coffees. The music playing is vacation music, the tiki feel is all around, there are Hawaain posters on the walls, bananas in bowls, tikis here and there. There are tables around the wrap around windows with stool/chairs. It's a fun concept with and island feel.

Maui Wowi is located right aruond the corner from a small strip mall with lots of parking so that isn't an issue. It's owned by Mary Anne and Jim Sweeney. You can usually find one of them right behind the counter working. It's almost directly across the street from the local movie theatre so it's a super after movie stop over. This shop opened very recently and it's already pulling in crowds. The High School is nearby so it gets a big kid influx when school lets out . The menu is terrific for kids since it offers many really healthy drinks and foods.

Coffees come in Vanilla Macadamian flavor or Toasted Coconut Coffee, Hawaiian Lion, Kaui Peaberry. They have Cinnamon you can add to your coffee. You can get Cappacino or Espresso. They offer fresh fruit smoothies made with yogurt in Black Raspberry, Passion Papaya or Pina Colada. You can add energy boosters to your smoothies, fat burners, and mass blasters. They also offer Myoplex bars, health bars. The sugar they offer is Maui Gold Natural Sugar. The general feeling here is healthy, tropical, outdoorsy. They do not carry Soda.

The menu offers sandwiches, muffins in corn, blueberry, banana walnut, There are bottles of vitamin drinks, Tropicana Apple or Orange drink. You can just get a coffee and one of their biscotti. They have a delicious Tropical Coconut pound cake. Cookies are available, big cookies in Chocolate Chunk or White Chocolate Macadamia.Popcorn is Island Princess Macadamian nut Popcorn Crunch.The tea selection includes Coconut Macadamian, Guava, Pinapple Walnut, Pineapple Waikiki, Passion Fruit, Guava, Ginseng and Mango.

The smoothie I tried was thick and rich and really gave you the hit of fruit. I'm partial to Pina Colada so that was my choice. The nice part is that you felt like you were drinking something healthy even though it tasted like a rich dessert. My granddaughter wasn't feeling the moment so she just chose Orange juice and a White Chocolate Macadamian nut cookie. It was large enough for us to share and I must say it was tasty but I only had a bite I know how high in calorie Macadamian nuts are.
