Max, the Child Ghost

Kimberly Bruklis
There was an incident with my youngest son Justin that I really never gave two thoughts about until I had my own encounter with the same ghost a few years later. One morning, my son Justin and I were sitting at the table having breakfast after dropping off my oldest son Corey at school. Justin was around 4 years old then and I think at the time, I brushed off the entire encounter as possibly Justin developing an imaginary friend to replace Corey while he was at school.....so I thought....I hoped. I was on one side of table and Justin was sitting to my left. After a few minutes into the meal, he began covering his mouth and giggling uncontrollably. I asked him "What's so funny?" He just shook his shoulders at me as if to tell me he didn't want to say. It was a big secret. Another few minutes went by and he started giggling again. So I asked him again "What are you giggling about, silly head?" He was obviously ready to share with me what had him so entertained. He pointed across the table at the empty chair and said "The little boy." I replied "What little boy?" He again pointed across the table, which was to my right and he said "Him...he's making funny faces at me." I leaned across the table to the empty chair, waving my hand back and forth across the chair to show him no one was sitting there....at least, no one I could see. I looked at Justin and said "But there's no one there." What was once a giggling mouth covered in maple syrup, was now stern and obviously upset four year old with his arms crossed telling me "You scared him away!" Soon after, I would often find Justin playing in his room with this imaginary friend. Justin said Max's real name was Michael, but preferred to be called "Max".

Several years later, I was in the living room watching television with my husband John. I got up from the loveseat to grab something to drink, John held his glass out for me to grab him a glass of iced tea while I was up. As I walked over to the recliner to grab his glass, to my shock in the dining room was this young boy. He was standing on the opposite end of the table, looking right at me. Now, I know enough about residual energy to know that often people will mistaken this replay of trapped energy for something paranormal. They often report that the energy appears to be starring at them or doing a task in which they did repetitively while alive. I can tell you, this was not in any way shape or form, residual. This child was looking directly at me and the astounded look on his face spoke volumes. He looked at me as if to say "Oh no, you can see me!" No sooner did our eyes lock and I'm sure I was giving him the same surprised look back, he shot off through the dining room and disappeared straight in to the wall. I couldn't help but wonder if this young boy was the same "imaginary friend" Justin had been interacting with since his first encounter with the child at breakfast. I described in great detail the child's hair color, his clothing, his height and approximate age I thought he was. I called Justin in to the room, asking him to describe "Max" to me. To my shock, he described the exact young fellow. What struck me odd though and sent chills down my spine was that Justin claims the first encounter with the child, the boy had a disfigured face. But as time went on, he claimed that the boys face began to look normal.

About a year or so later, I spoke Nancy Myer, a world renowned psychic medium about our haunting and the energies that co-exist in our home. One of the energies she picked up on was a young boy, about ten years old. She believed his name began with the letter "M". She said that he had never lived directly on our property or in our home, but rather had lived in a nearby subdivision. She said he was drawn to my psychic energy and that in life, he was almost like an archeologist, he loved to dig. With in a few months, I also spoke with a psychic remote viewer (I will refrain from publishing his name as I know he is adamant about his privacy due to the work he is in). He told me also about a young boy in our home, whom he also believed came from a near by neighborhood. He said he believed the boy's name could possibly be "Michael" or something similar. He described the child's home and even provided directions on where I would find this boy's home. He insisted he felt the boy had drowned in a pond behind the home. With map in hand, I was able to confirm this home and the pond behind did exist.
