Maximize Your Time in Memphis: Pick the Right Hotel Location

firebrand
If you are planning a trip to Memphis, you may have a hard time deciding on which hotel to lay your head down in after your many fun adventures through the land of pigs and Rock-N-Roll. If you choose the wrong area for your entertainment purposes, you could end up spending a lot of unnecessary time in a car or cab looking at the walls of the interstate traveling from one part of town to the other. Memphis is a giant spread out city that can be difficult to navigate. Memphis is the only place in the US that Interstate 40 breaks because it was scheduled to go through a beautiful and historic park, Overton Park. Because of this break, the interstate system is a little different to figure out at first.

Think about what you are coming to Memphis for. Are you an Elvis fan, or are you interested in the Blues like BB King? Are you interested in the history of civil rights here, or do you just want to see the city for no particular reason? Are you the type of traveler who wants to see everything there is for a tourist to see and then some? These questions can help you determine if you should rent a car while you are here or not. They can tell you if you should stay Downtown or in the area near Graceland. Location is a key to maximizing your vacation here.

If you are interested in the blues, Beale Street, the Civil Rights Museum, shopping, or barbeque, Downtown will be an ideal place for you to stay. You will not need a car because you can ride the trolley everywhere you need to go, and it is all very close by. Hotels in beautiful Downtown Memphis will leave little to be desired if you choose one properly. These are four super hotels in Downtown Memphis that you could have an excellent time in. The PeabodyHotel is pricey, but a historically enticing experience in high style. You will spend two hundred dollars or more on a room, but your temporary home comes complete with marching royal ducks and a piano in the lobby that often sends out sounds of musical delight. The Memphis Doubletree Hotel is also downtown, and your stay will be sharp and smooth here, and like the Peabody you will be in the center of Downtown Memphis so traveling to the north side or the south side is simple. The Hampton Inn and Suites is a prime choice if you want to spend a lot of time on Beale Street. This swanky hotel is in the heart of the Memphis Entertainment District with convenient parking and shopping right across the street at the Peabody Place Mall.

If you are interested in going to Graceland more than anything else, and you are only going to be here a day or two, then staying at TheHeartbreak Hotel is the best idea. However, if you have more than two days in Memphis, you might as well stay downtown because there is much more to do downtown than there is near Graceland. Downtown is less than eight miles from the hotels listed above, and you can take a taxi or drive yourself to Graceland from them with relative ease because signs on the side of the street will point you to Graceland.

Whatever it is you plan to do here, these hotels are great, and you are sure to have a great visit with us. Don't forget to eat the pig!
