Maximizing Your Money: Tips on How to Make Your Cash Grow

Heide Lynne Canlas
Being able to be in control of your finances is one goal that everybody should aspire for.

As we get more financially independent, we must be able to maximize our money's worth. Having a good control over our finances greatly helps not only in preparing for the future, but having that peace of mind, as well.

Here are some tips that would help one in maximizing his or her money's worth:

1. Organize. Having a good idea about your finances will help you in making sound financial decisions. Try having a small notebook dedicated to tracing your cash flow. Include your inputs like your salary in one column or section and your expenses in another to get an idea on how much balance you have left.

2. List your needs. Before you go out for shopping, make a list first on what you need to buy. Having a shopping list prepared beforehand will lessen the probability of getting items out of whim. Minimize impulsive expenses in order to save money.

3. Buy in bulk. Buying in bulk costs much less in the long run. Hence, if you have some extra money, try buying goods in bulk to be able to save as you go on.

4. Use your credit card wisely. Having a credit card could actually help you in stretching your budget if you use it prudently. Limit credit card purchases to essentials only like grocery and gasoline, in case you run out of cash. Don't use it for a shopping spree. In this way, you can reduce repayments and free up extra cash for other things.

5. Save. There is wisdom in the adage, "a penny saved is a penny earned". Try putting aside even as low as five percent of all cash inputs in a bank account. Savings could be used in emergencies or for buying something you have always wanted.

6. Invest. Having an investment actually increases your cash flow inward in the long run. If you may have extra money, look for ways to invest it. Investments could be as small as helping out in a friend's brownie venture. Your small input in capital could be a big help in the future.
