Maxwell House International Cafe French Vanilla, Sugar Free and Decaffeinated Too
Create Your Own Starbucks Type Drink for Pennies
So around 10.00 p.m. I pour around 8 ounces of milk into my mug, and microwave it, until it is almost boiling. I then used to add 1 teaspoonful of Nescafe Taster's Choice decaffeinated granules into it, and stir. This tasted good, but I wanted something even better.
A couple of years ago I found Maxwell House International Cafe French Vanilla beverage mix. I purchased it in Super Wal-Mart for $3, and had a 75 cents off coupon. I thought $2.25 was a good price. The net weight is 4 ounces (114 g).
The first time I tried the French Vanilla, I read the directions and it states:
"Measure 4 teaspoons of French Vanilla Cafe into your favorite mug. Slowly stir in 6 to 8 ounces of boiling water. Or, create your own indulgent recipe by adjusting the amount of product for personal taste, or make with hot milk (not boiling)."
I heated up my milk, added 3 teaspoons of French Vanilla, and stirred it really well. It had a little froth on the top, and looked creamy. When I tasted it, it was way too sweet for me, as I don't take sugar in anything, and was too rich.
So the next night I decided to try half a teaspoonful of Nescafe Taster's Choice, and 2 teaspoons of my International Cafe French Vanilla. It tasted very rich again, but this time it was more to my taste.
After about a week, I ended up with the half teaspoon of Taster's Choice, and 1 heaped teaspoon of my French Vanilla. This worked out great, and so every night before bed, I take my delicious International Cafe French Vanilla beverage.
I love the fact that it is decaffeinated, because I have osteoporosis, and cannot have caffeine, as it takes the calcium out of my bones. I didn't buy it because it is sugar free, the decaffeinated comes that way. The regular flavors are not sugar free.
If you use it the way the directions are, you will get 19 drinks out of it. Mine lasts me for 4-5 weeks. Their serving size states that the mix is 30 calories, and 20 fat calories. I have mine with 1% milk, and feel that these are good calories for me. I don't have cookies, or a piece of cake with it. The milky drink, on it's own, fills me up.
Ingredients
Nondairy Creamer, Corn Syrup Solids, Partially Hydrogenated Coconut Oil, Sodium Caseinate (from milk), Dipotassium Phosphate, Mono & diglycerides,, sodium stearol, lactylate, , maltodextrin, Decaffeinated Instant Coffee, Cocoa, Artificial Flavor (less than 2%), Natural Flavor (less than 2%), Sodium Citrate (less than 2%), Aspartame (Sweetener) (less than 2%), Aspartame (Sweetener) (Phenylketonurics: Contains Phenylalanine), Silicon Dioxide
I can only say good things about this beverage mix. When you open it up and look into the rectangular can, there is a beige colored powder. It smells of vanilla, and coffee. When you put your finger in it, and taste, both flavors are there.
The only minor thing I have found about this coffee mix, is that if the milk isn't hot enough, or if you don't give it a good stir, then you may get the odd lump in it.
I do go to Starbucks for my brewed decaf coffee, but prefer to do my specialty coffee at home. Mine works out for pennies, instead of big bucks.
I would happily recommend it to anyone. It is quick, and easy, all you need is your mug, the mix, a spoon, milk, and a microwave.
