The writing assignment challenge for May 2010 started off with a bang, with 31 people responding that they wanted to take part in the assignment. Life got in the way for some, but 22 participants rose to the challenge and were able to follow through and publish an article on their assigned topic.

I asked each writer to provide a topic related to a past or present occupation they've had, or perhaps their spouse's job. The topics submitted were then randomly assigned to another participant to write their article for the challenge.

The occupations submitted were quite diverse and I knew that reading the resulting articles would be fun and interesting, and I wasn't disappointed. Please join me in supporting our fellow writers in the challenge by reading their articles linked below. I don't think you'll be disappointed either.

I published Receptionist: The Most Rewarding Job You'll Ever Hate, the topic Bailey Black picked to throw into the ring.

R. Elizabeth C. Kitchen wanted to see a report on ICU Psychosis and How You Can Help and I think Hope Brock did a great job with that assignment.

Tonya Hillukka shared Health Care and Befriending Clients: Is There a Fine Line? after getting the assignment submitted by Robert.

Ah, telemarketers '" don't you love them? Karen Curley's Is Telemarketing an Obsolete Sales Technique? was submitted by Lyn Lomasi.

Kay Balbi's topic idea was assigned to Carol Bengle Gilbert, who published System Administrator's Biggest Challenge is You.

Jillian McCoy published an overview of Administrative Assistant Duties, based on the topic submitted by Janice Meyer.

Karen Curley wanted to know about How to Handle Behavioral Problems With Your Own Children in Your Home Daycare and I think Shannon Stefanick did a great job with that assignment.

Michelle Hicks educated us with her article on Sleep Medicine: Maintenance of Wakefulness Test, the topic Andrew Kennett submitted.

Melanie Patrick published Foundry Sand & Metal Casting: Tips & Resources for Building a Backyard Foundry, a spinoff of the topic submitted by Karen Barnes.

Ever wanted to be a librarian? Theresa Leschmann's article A Career as a Librarian gives some great insight. Thanks to Tamara Waters for that idea.

Kay Whittenhauer's topic idea went to Andrew Kennett, and I learned some interesting tidbits after reading Who Can Perform a Wedding?

Debbie Henthorn published the informative Credit Card Collections: What Can You Learn? after being assigned the topic submitted by Shannon Stefanick.

Sandra Peterson's article about Five Day Mail Delivery Woes is something we all may be facing. Thanks to Ruthie Gold for that topic idea submission.

Teaching is both challenging and rewarding, and R. Elizabeth C. Kitchen points out how with her article Challenges & Rewards Encountered By Middle School Teachers, the assignment submitted by Melanie Patrick.

Linda St. Cyr was the lucky recipient of the topic I submitted, and published How to Apply for Food Stamps in Pennsylvania.

Do you know The Difference Between Interior Design and Decorating? Jennifer Moore did a great job explaining after being assigned the topic submitted by Tonya Hillukka.

The topic submitted by Michelle M. Hicks is something that any of us might face at some point. Lyn Lomasi shares some good information in Family Caregiving: Get Paid to Provide Loving, Quality Care.

That wraps it up for the May writing assignment challenge, and I hope you enjoyed reading the articles and maybe even learned a little something.

With so many people busy right now, I've decided to hold off on scheduling another challenge right away. Watch for the next writing assignment challenge in another month or two. It's a lot of fun, so don't be afraid to jump in on the next one.

I missed this month's assignment, but I enjoyed my first experience. Especially that Ms. Marie-Anne didn't deduct points for tardiness.
