The major difference is in this mascara's brush/wand. It is spoon-shaped to provide better application and access to all of your lashes, filling in all gaps. It took me awhile to get used to, since I was used to using The Colossal's somewhat chunky, big bristled brush. The best way to use it, in my opinion is to hold the brush with the spoon part facing downward, like a rainbow and apply upward. I have very sparse lashes so I need to apply several coats of mascara in order to achieve my desired look. This mascara contains Kera fiber that is supposed to assist in building more volume and length. I did not see much volume (it could be due to my already sparse lashes), but I definitely did see a dramatic difference in length. It does give that false lash look, especially in the length department.
It is available in 3 colors: Blackest Black, Very Black, and Brownish Black. I purchased this is Blackest Black and Very Black, although comparing the two shades, there really isn't a dramatic difference. It is also available in waterproof formulas, but in the Very Black and Brownish Black shades only. This mascara is ophthalmologist tested and contact lens safe.
This comes in a .25 fl oz tube and lasts a decent amount of time. This can retail anywhere from $6.99 to $8.49 depending on which store you go to. Beauty supply stores such as ULTA will have this for a lot cheaper and also offer sale promotions and in-store coupons for it.
So, my overall opinion of the mascara is that it definitely lives up to its name, but I only wish it had the fuller volume effect that the Colossal has, but lengthwise it is amazing. Hopefully Maybelline can come out with another product that will combine the strengths of both mascaras!
