Maybelline Shineseduction Glossy Lipcolor Leaves a Shine, but No Color on the Lips

Susan Slade

A product I have recently been using is, Maybelline Shineseduction Glossy Lipcolor. I was lucky enough to find it at our Dollar Tree store, for $1.

It was in secured packaging, and I could see the Color through the plastic. It looked like a pretty pink shimmer. I am not really into bright colors, and thought this would be great for me.

I slit open the plastic, and lifted out the lipcolor. It was sealed from the bottom, up past the bottom of the cap, so that it couldn't be opened. I used my nail to try to break the plastic, and it was too tough. I got my husband to try, and he couldn't do it. Out came a box cutter, and carefully it went down the side. The hard plastic came off.

I was left with an elegant, silver metallic tube, similar in size to a mascara tube. The bottom of the tube has a turn area, for around the first half an inch. You can see a line in the silver. The cap is the same color, but stops a quarter of an inch before the silver. In this area you can see the color of the product, through clear plastic.

I carefully pulled off the top, and the Maybelline Shineseduction Glossy Lipcolor, is in hard plastic that is the shape of a lipstick. The color was almost up to the angled top. Looking down at it I could see 6 tiny holes for the color to come out.

I carefully turned the bottom area, of the lipcolor to the right, and the lipcolor started coming up the tube. I stopped as soon as I had tiny beads of color there. I then applied it to my upper lip. I had just the right amount, and it was easy to apply, even though I have small lips. I then did another tiny turn, and out came some more drops of lipcolor. I then moved this over my lower lips.

I turned the lipcolor back to the left, and it went back down the tube.

After doing this I checked on the direction, and they are:

'Twist bottom dial to right until color appears. Twist to the left to reduce the amount of color. Starting in the middle of upper lip, apply color from center to outer edges, following contour of your mouth; repeat on bottom lip."

My lips were pretty much the same color, but they had a great shine to them. As I moved them they shimmered too. When I puckered up, they weren't at all greasy. My husband was close by, so I did the kiss test. We had several kisses, and our lips didn't stick together. He didn't have lipcolor on his lips, and they weren't greasy. I looked at mine in the mirror, and a little of the shine had gone, but the Maybelline Shineseduction Glossy Lipcolor was still there.

I had a glass of water, and it took the smallest amount of lipcolor off. Well, I should say gloss, because this really didn't color my lips.

What Maybelline state on the packaging:

"Create a captivating look of mesmerizing shine and color.
Sculpting tip contours lips precisely.
Aqua-Botanicals and Vitamin E.
Non-Sticky feel."

The net weight is .08 ounce (2.5 ml.). The color I have is number 410.

I have been using it this past month, and it makes a change from lip balms. It stays on most of the morning, and I reapply it after lunch. If I am going out in the evening I tend to wear a lipstick, but if I am around the house, the glossy lipcolor does fine.

I wouldn't pay full price for it, but it certainly is worth the buck I paid for it.
