It's funny how many sizes, and shapes mascaras are today. From the tiny, to the skinny, to the big and bold. I just couldn't resist the Maybelline Volum' Express Curved Brush Mascara. It is a round chunky tube, that looks as if it is going to explode, with mascara.
On the packaging it states that it is 'up to 3X volume, builds instantly, no clumps'.
These are big statements so I had to buy it. I am trying to recall the price, and had to check the Maybelline website for it. They sell it for $7.77, but I believe I only paid around $2 for mine, after sale price, and register bucks back.
Onto the Maybelline Volum' Express Curved Brush Mascara. It is a matte silver, with shiny silver lettering on it. The screw top is fatter than normal, and the barrel of the mascara is seven eighths of an inch, across the middle. The color I have is 221, Very Black, which I love.
Upon taking the wand out of the mascara, I wanted to stand it on it's end to see the brush, but the end is angled, so it would fall over. The curved brush has pretty much the same size bristles going all the way down the brush. They taper a small amount at the end.
I read the instructions which are:
"Sweep brush upwards from root to tip to build instant volume. Do not let dry between coats. Removes easily with soap and water or Expert Eyes 100% Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover."
I took off my glasses, and lined up the Maybelline Volum' Express Curved Brush Mascara, with my lashes. I then lifted it up across my upper lashes, on my right eye several times, and didn't stop in between. I then made sure that the curved area went over my bottom lashes. I was able to do these in one go, instead of using the outer edge of the wand, several times.
I found the curved brush very easy to use. I then put my glasses back on, and looked at my eyes. I had 100% Natural Origin Organic Wear Mascara on my left lashes for comparison. The Maybelline Volum' Express came a close second to the Organic Wear Mascara. It made my eyelashes really black, gave me volume, but didn't quite match the lengthening of the Organic Wear Mascara. Maybelline Volum' Express retails at a couple of dollars less than the Organic Wear.
When I asked my husband to compare them, he couldn't see any difference, but that is a man for you. If the lashes are black, and have mascara on them, then they are fine.
What Maybelline say about their product, from the website:
"Delivers up to 3X the volume instantly for the fastest clump-free volume
Anti-Clump Curved Brush and volume-building express formula quickly thicken lashes without clumps or globs
Contact lens safe, ophthalmologist-tested
Washable"
The Volum' Express Mascara stayed on well. I had a tiny bit of clumping on the top lashes, but you needed a magnifying glass to notice it. My lashes looked good, and the mascara did everything that I asked of it. At the end of the day, I used my Estee Lauder makeup remover, and it came off easily. My cotton ball was full of mascara, which proved that it stripped it from my lashes.
Out of the 50 or so mascaras I have, this has to be in my top 5.

I am also a Maybeline girl! Only one that doesn't clump and the cheapest!
Thanks for the review. I'd like to find a clear mascara to use. I can't seem to find any! I have long, curly eyelashes, so I don't need to accentuate mine all that much. A little goes a long way for me.

Will catch up with you all when I come back from England. It will probably be 5 or 6 weeks before I write and get it published. My hand/wrist/arm should be working by then.
