As a former 45 year Arizona resident who eventually left the state in 2007 after the last Kennedy/McCain amnesty bill was being pushed through the Senate (with Mr. McCain's friend and constituent, Senator Reid, also attempting to shove this dangerous piece of legislation down the AMERICAN people's throats), my Mr. McCain's hypocrisy over this situation while stating his continued support for the War in Iraq and securing Iraq and Israel's borders instead is now just too incredible to believe.
Over the course of the past twenty years, the degree of property and violent crime in the border states, especially Senator McCain's "home" state of Arizona, drug trafficking, and gang activity has increased significantly due to the border situation. While the citizens of Arizona have fought and attempted to pass initiative after initiative in order to protect their property, lives and children, Senator McCain has instead betrayed them at the federal level, instead supporting his large corporate contributors income streams at every turn. Vote fraud resulted in "Clean Election" and ID laws passed at the Arizona citizens insistence. The identity theft and fake ID shops business then increased tremendously, making Arizona one of the highest states also in the nation for identity theft and fraud. The rates for collision and comprehensive insurance for automobiles in the Phoenix and Tucson metropolitan areas are two of the highest in the nation, due to the fact that while the Arizona citizens must by mandatory statute, carry liability insurance, the border hoppers and illegal immigrants are not, and while they can be given any and all privileges and immunities of U.S. citizens if arrested, as non-U.S. citizens are not subject to those civil laws which the Arizona residents are. Consequently, the Arizona citizens property and insurance rates continue to escalate off the charts, and are paying also for either the courts or property damage inflicted on them by these "guest workers," drug dealers, gang members or auto thieves. Not to mention the emotional costs to the public at large in living with this situation on a daily basis, and families of those victims of some of the violent crimes which have been committed since 9/11 in the thousands now throughout the nation and not just in the border states.
As also a member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, it is apparent where Mr. McCain's bread is buttered with respect to his true constituents, and his ambition. It is interesting also to note, that while LaRaza supports the agendas and protection of many of the "terrorist" illegal immigrants in their blanket positions, the majority of the lawful and legal Mexican-Americans in that state do not. They had to "earn" their citizenship, learned English, and assimilated as American citizens.
This announcement was also illustrated by Mr. McCain's newest political ad again waving the flag and calling to the American public's attention that a great number of the lives lost in this war and those prior, and in public service positions are Latinos or Mexican-Americans. The difficulty is, it fails to illustrate that those individuals were, by and large, lawful Mexican Americans and not the border hoppers or those seeking America only as a place of commerce and not home, whether through legitimate employment or illegitimate criminal activity. Nor does it point out that in aligning himself with a pro open border, pro amnesty stance, as those numbers continue to increase, the West and Southwest electorate will become more and more Latino (almost 30% at the present time) with strong ties to their true homeland, Mexico, due to proximity alone. The African-American and Caucasian populations in this country due to time and distance have less and less sympathy and allegiance to countries other than our own. Not so in the border states, where a great many Latinos are "globalists" or visiting workers, while more and more Americans are becoming unemployed each and every day, due to corporate interests preference for this cheap labor in order to increase their bottom line profits. When substandard wages are paid, it not only depresses the wages of the lawful citizenry, it strains our social service systems and also results in criminal activity in order to "supplement" those substandard wages.
I hope before November Senator McCain wakes up and realizes that the job for which he is applying is as the leader of America and it is the interests of the American people and citizenry, not corporate or global interests, that are his true constituents and for whom he is charged to serve and protect.
Not as President of Iraq, Israel or Mexico. It will be interesting to see what he has to say to LaRaza, and by inference what priority he places on America and Americans. Since Senator McCain never truly was an Arizonan when he burst on the political scene more than 20 years ago, nor since has been a representative of them, most long term Arizonans already know the answer.
