McCain-Palin Take Big Hit

(Or Do They?)

Charles B Reynolds
In a rare interview with Associated Press, Levi Johnston spoke candidly about his political views, despite having been warned away from speaking with the media. When asked about Barack Obama, Johnston said, "He seems like a nice guy. I like him."

When reporters asked him about his being brought along with the Palin's during the Governor's run for Vice President, Johnston said, "I was like, 'Whatever.'"

Johnston was "shocked" when he learned about Bristol Palin's pregnancy. The two had been dating since his freshman year. He has since dropped out of high school and is working as an electrician's apprentice at the North Slope oil fields.

Wasilla hockey coach Bill Sturdevant, said he was sorry to hear Johnston, a talented hockey player, would not be returning next year.

Wow, sounds like the McCain campaign has taken another knock on the chin due to his choice of Sarah Palin as VP, huh?

Yeah, well, think again. Though the above report from the Associated Press is true, it is skewed to make it seem like things are awry on the Palin home front. To read the whole story from AP's Adam Glodman, click here.

Johnston did say he liked Obama. But he didn't say as President. He is rooting fro McCain-Palin to win. "I just hope she wins," he said. "She's my future mother-in-law. She better win."

About his marriage to Bristol Palin, Johnston said that they had been planning on doing just that for a "long time." Even though her pregnancy was a little shocking, he is very excited about being a dad. "I'm going to take him hunting and fishing. He'll be everywhere with me," Johnston said.

Here is a perfect example of how things can be skewed and twisted to fit an editor or reporter's worldview. And it is happening at not only an astonishing rate these days, but right in public sight. They just don't seem to care.

So let me just say that, come November, don't listen to the analysis of the news teams on television, or the pundits on radio or in the press. Don't look to the "latest exit polls" or be taken in by who the news anchor is predicting to be the winner or loser in whatever race. They've gotten it wrong way to many times before to be taken seriously.

And don't even look to the party of a particular candidate. They are just in it for one thing; and it is not your best interest. They want "their" candidate to win because t brings them more power.

Even if your state has been "called" for one candidate or the other. This is just some made up number the news agencies think is what will happen. Just think about what each candidate is saying their vision for America is and see if it matches yours. Then go out and vote. Your vote does count. Don't believe me, check out page 2 to 4 in this article about voting responsibility.

Also, check out some of the resources I've listed below and alongside this article to see for yourself what the candidate's position and records actually are.

Kelly, that was kind of the idea. Even a nothing little piece could be turned into something not so nice. And I ddin't even embellish, as so many media biased stories do these days. They would have added something along the lines of making it seem like a shotgun wedding and how sad the teacher was that this had happened to such a nice kid. Just read any article out there in the mainstream relating to Palin or McCain or the Republicans and it is filled with half-truths and innuendo.

There are so many "half quotes" going around, it isn't even funny. Too bad the story with the whole quote won't get the press that the story with the half quote will.

They certainly can frame things the way they want them to be read.

I guess when I read the AP story on Levi Johnston it didn't seem like a hit or anything else, just a kid talking to the press. Yes, if my daughter got pregnant while in high school I'd be very disappointed the father to be wasn't even finishing high school. But, I don't know their circumstances and it doesn't really concern me. It seems a strange choice of an article to draw attention to so-called media bias. There are lots of bigger stories that got squashed or slanted. This is really a 'just the facts' account of something that's not even really newsworthy.
