In a bizarre twist of fate, Mexican singer Sergio Vega was murdered just hours after he disputed reports of his death. Like so many celebrities before him, online death rumors about him proved to be false. Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, and Johnny Depp are just a few celebrities to be the subjects of death hoaxes. Unlike these stars, the reports of Vega's death turned to reality just hours after he squashed the rumors. The singer who performed as "El Shaka" was known for songs about Mexico's drug wars. He was shot dead on his way to perform a concert on Saturday. He was driving his red Cadillac when he was fired upon, losing control of his vehicle. The gunmen reportedly "finished Mr. Vega off" with shots to the head and chest.
