McClay Valley Subdivision and Laurel Park Community Slide Show

40-Acre Park a Huge Selling Point for Subdivision

If you are relocating to St. Charles County, Missouri, and need a moderately priced home in a great family setting, you might consider McClay Valley in St. Peters. McClay Valley subdivision is full of average priced homes with better than average amenities. Most of the homes are single story ranch style houses with average sized lots. The East side of the subdivision borders the back of Francis Howell North High School and the front entrance is off McClay Road. Another Subdivision backs up to the West side of the community and to the North is the communities most desired feature, Laurel Park.

While the subdivision is convenient and central to shopping with close proximity to highway access, Laurel Park is the number one selling feature of the community. Laurel Park is more than just your average park. It is a huge 40-acre activity center with everything you can think of for family outdoor recreation. The park features two baseball fields, two soccer fields (also used for football) and two sand volleyball courts, as well as a roller hockey and basketball court. The local recreational sports teams utilize these fields, which are open to the public otherwise. The open fields are a great place to play catch with your little ones, throw a Frisbee, or run with your dogs.

The picnic areas have covered pavilions with horseshoe stakes and plenty of room for event activities or family fun. In addition to picnic areas, the park has a huge playground with 3 huge climbing structures, one of which spouts water like a mini water park to cool off the little ones on extremely hot days. There are also 2 large lakes and a huge multi-purpose trail around the perimeter of the park for biking, walking, or rollerblading.

The park is also home to the largest public pool in St. Peters. Laurel Park Pool "features a large shallow water area, a special wading pool just for toddlers, a 1-meter diving board, a large sunbathing area and two dedicated 25-meter lap lanes. A concession stand is available for light snacks and cool soft drinks."

The park is a great setting for photos with lush landscaping and abundant in Black Eyed Susan. An adorable little gazebo sits up close to the parking lot with one of the scenic lakes in the background. I have taken my children here many times for family photos and they turn out awesome.

McClay Valley does not have a huge turnover of homes, but the price point is usually reasonable when a home does become available. The homes are not extremely unique, but again, the focal point of the subdivision will not be the homes themselves, so much as the park. If you have small children, you will want to consider staying off the main road. Traffic can get somewhat busy, especially in the summer months, when visitors are traveling to and from the park in the back of the subdivision.

For those of you who mix business with pleasure, the park also offers free Wireless Internet Access. You can work while your kids play or just enjoy a day working out in the fresh air instead of cooped up in the office.
