I had the privilege of visiting McCray's Tavern this past weekend after the Theatre and had dinner with a few friends. The first thing that I noticed was the rooftop patio, but since it was close to 100 degrees, I decided to dine inside with the air conditioner. Once you enter McCray's you see the traditional tavern atmosphere with a little touch of style and of course you have the flat screen televisions for various sports events.
Since I hadn't eaten all day, I quickly turned my attention to the menu and was immediately impressed with the Pecan crusted Tilapia which is fresh Tilapia served on a Kaiser roll with tomato and lettuce. The sandwich came with your choice of sides, you could choose from: roasted new potatoes, broccoli, green beans, pasta salad, Mac and cheese and salad just to name a few.
The moment I bit into my Pecan crusted Tilapia I was in heaven. The fish was fresh and the crust was extremely tasty. I had a salad and potatoes with my sandwich, so I was very satisfied and couldn't wait to have some dessert. The desserts are not listed on the menu, but they do have them. You can enjoy some traditional New York style cheesecake, Tiramisu, Key lime pie, Banana pudding and a lovely homemade chocolate dessert that I am not going to name, because when you go, I want you to ask for their "famous" chocolate dessert and you'll be in for a surprise.
McCray's has Brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. which includes Bananas Foster French toast, The traditional Benedict, Buttermilk Pancakes, Steak & Eggs and Omelets just to name a few. Prices range from as low as $2.50 to $12.50. The lunch and dinner menus consist of some of the McCray's signature dishes that include: Pecan crusted Tilapia sandwich, Grilled three cheese sandwich, Santa Fe Chicken, Grilled Portobello, Carmines Rigatoni with Vodka Sauce, Applewood smoked bacon-wrapped, all natural pork tenderloin. The prices range from $6.95 to $21.95 for lunch and dinner.
