McDonald's Brings Back the Down Home Taste of BBQ with the McRib.

Its Not Alabama or Texas BBQ, but the Average Person Would Probably like It.

Who says you can't go back? McDonald's brings back one of their old menu items in the McRib. It is not the best sandwich offered by McDonalds, but in all fairness I am a southern boy and am no stranger to good barbeque. The McRib is basically a processed pork patty that is shaped like a boneless rib. It's a little thinner than what a Quarter Pound beef patty is. It comes with a mild tasting barbeque sauce, sliced pickles, and sliced onions. Overall the various ingredients seem to compliment each other very well. I love fast food, but it is not the healthiest stuff to eat. The McDonald's McRib is not an exception to this rule. The McRib contains 450 calories, 24 grams of fat (8 saturated), 34 grams of carbohydrates and 24 grams of protein.

I actually tried this tonight with my dinner. It had a pretty good amount of sauce in it and was a bit messy, but was ok to the taste buds. I would not call it spicy. The roll was pretty good and unique compared to what you could find typically at McDonald's. The pickles and onions go pretty well with it and bring out the sauce flavor. The McRib patty itself was not too chewy or hard. It was a similar texture to a burger but a bit harder. I personally will not order one again. I cook my own ribs Alabama BBQ style, but most people seem to like it including several friends of mine. If you want something different the McDonald's McRib is definitely worth a try. In the battle for the consumers fast food dollars McDonalds may not have innovated but imitated. Burger King had some really good luck with their barbequed ribs and McDonald's probably brought the McRib back to compete and have a similar item on the menu. I would not be surprised if some McDonald's try offering ribs at sometime in the near future or maybe even a boneless rib pieces meal.
