Naturally, I'm aiming for the $1 million prize. One small problem - I'm not a big consumer of McDonald's. I might go there once or twice a month. But folks in my office sure do. I'm going to see if I can get everyone here to pool our collect-and-win pieces together, similar to a lottery pool. Each piece contributed will count as a share. Any prizes won by the group, via collect-and-win pieces, will then be split according to each person's percentage of shares contributed versus overall pieces contributed.
For example, if I contributed 10 of the group's 40 pieces, equivalent to 25 percent of the total number of pieces we collected, and we won $1,000, I would get $250 of the winnings, and the rest would go to others who contributed. This gives me a shot at winning one of the prizes and, best of all, still allows me to keep any of the Instant Win prizes I find!
In previous years, I've only won the free food prizes available with the McDonald's Monopoly contests. This time around, there is a 1 in 4.35 chance of winning free food (McDonald's 2010). However, contests like this, and even the big prizes in it, are winnable, folks. I've been on an all expenses paid trip to New York City courtesy of someone winning a contest from a certain fashion designer show. And a certain person, who asked me not to tell, recently won a $1,000 gift card on a game site. My lips are sealed as to who this is!
As for the McDonald's Monopoly contest, I can remember my mother participating in this when I was growing up. Naturally, I ate a lot more McDonald's back then. My father too would have breakfast there quite often and would load up on game pieces. Mom won one of the smaller collect-and-win prizes, a $50 prize, if I recall. The excitement from seeing everyone put together the winning game pieces on the old McDonald's Monopoly board is a fond childhood memory.
McDonald's Monopoly is back for 2010, and you can go to their website and print the board. It's still great fun, and still has excellent prizes.
